Such a beautiful place to stay! Was so nice waking up to the birds singing and the sun rising. The lodge was so amazing and the beds were very comfortable.
Spacious room with own balcony but also the run of lovely living room and kitchen walking distance to a gorgeous waterway and anchorage that could be in the West Country of the UK including the oldest colonial era home in Nz alongside a Māori meeting house and war canoe. Great restaurant less than 5 minute walk!

The location is very peaceful and quiet with lots of bushland and native bush very close by. It is within walking distance of the Stone Store and three lovely restaurants plus a waterfall.
It is in need of a good tidy up regarding staining of outside timbers, cobwebs and spiders within the rooms, curtains are stained and some are ripped.
There is a great communal area and kitchen with breakfast items supplied. The host is very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again because of the location more than anything else.

Yes the curtains had been overlooked and we appreciate the feedback. They are in the process of having some love and care.Living in the bush means the daddy longleg spiders do sneek into the rooms. They are harmless and sometimes my lovely cleaning lady does not get to them as she should. We apollogise. The staining is work in progress, perfection is not our main goal, but to provide cheerful relaxed accommodation in a great location.
Had an absolutely lovely one night stay here- property is absolutely stunning and the room was nice too. There’s a great place very walkable from here too that has a nice restaurant as well as pizzas around back that our host recommended and it was delicious.
Felt more comfortable & personal than your average motel.

Pleasantly surprised, didn’t expect the treehouse getaway that we got! Definitely recommend and definitely will rebook in future!
Very private, easy check in and great hosts. As in, if you need them they are next door but otherwise they just leave you to it !

Thanks Jevan. I do not get to meet all the guests these days. So pleased it worked out well for you.Cheers Richard
It was very peaceful, surrounded by trees and bushes.Lovely room ,and a sitting room down the corridor with views over the bush.A short walk down to the water, and the Plough snd Feather pub.
This is an amazing property to stay in. It is the 2nd time we have stayed here. We had a gorgeous room looking out to nature and was 1 of 3 rooms available. Our room was warm with the heat pump, the bathroom is modern too with heated tiles on the floor and lovely accessories for the shower. There is a gorgeous common area with books to read and nice sofas to relax on. Big kitchen to make breakfast in the morning with everything supplied. We love it here and will definitely be back. Best of all it is quiet.
A nice place to stay, quiet, peaceful . Only disappointed with amount of spiders and mosquitoes in our room and some windows covered in cobwebs on the outside, not a good look ! !

Thanks for your review. Yes the Spider webs out side are an issue and yes needed to be cleaned away. Joys of living in the bush I guess. All rooms have mosquito mesh incluing the outside door. If shut before sunset then they will not enter. If one does, there are some weapons asupplied to deal with them. There is the odd Daddy long legs spider that ventures in. Perhaps the cleaner had delt with them as i did not see any.Have a good day

Richard
The property is beautiful and the owners are a very nice family. The only problem was the bed which was in desperate need of replacement. Breakfast was wonderful.
There's is a amazing lodge with beautiful views. They make a delicious cooked-to-order breakfast served at your convenience. They only have three rooms and they are spacious and comfortable.

Our stay at Stone Store Lodge was amazing! The room was stunning and comfortable and the location itself was gorgeous, private and nestled amongst the bush. Richard was a terrific host and the breakfast was amazing. Could have stayed there forever.

Outstanding accomodation- we felt like we were in a luxurious tree house - Richard is a very gracious host - would recommend- thank you!
Great location near historic Stone Store, in a forest setting, near tracks for walking to waterfalls. Very tasteful, comfortable lodge. We had read great reviews about Richard, the owner/host, but he was away on holiday. Izzie filled in for him wonderfully!
Right off the plane from Canada, we were looking for a quiet place to rest, yet also enjoy the environment. Turned out to be perfect! Spacious well-appointed bedroom looking out through large windows onto a sub-tropical hillside. Excellent breakfast accommodating to your gluten-free and dairy-free diets. Helpful friendly owner and staff. Good restaurants a short walk away. Could not recommend it more highly
Everything was great....until I was introduced to the toilet paper! They say that a place is only as good as its toilet paper! Upgade this, and the lodge will be perfect!🌸
Large and comfortable suite with eyecatching views over the treescape.
Thoroughly satisfying breakfast on the open verandah.
Enjoyable conversation with the host
