The final stop on our tour of Japan we wanted luxury and the hotel delivered. Staff were very friendly and eager to help, and the hotel has good facilities, and even includes a convenience store for cheap snacks, though food in the bar was good and reasonably priced if you wanted a quick bite. They seemed to have evening performances on of different music which seemed a nice touch, and you can have a drink looking out to see at Iriomote as the sun sets. Room was very big and comfortable, great shower and enormous beds. We tried two of the restaurants which were both good, and the bar food one lunch time. Also had excellent massage in the spa. There is a regular airport shuttle that does stop at a hotel in the centre of town, so I think you could use this into town to save 1000yen taxi.
Downsides, some people may find the pool a bit small, and there isn't really a beach which would have been lovely. Not all staff spoke english, but this was never a problem, was always a staff member who did nearby (and it's probably because the hotel has such a high class feel that was the only reason this surprised me).
