Yvan is a fantastic host. He keeps beautiful gardens, pool and outdoor dining areas. Their Pousada rooms are very clean and comfortable. Best of all, Yvan is very helpful recomding dining restaurants and activities. You will have a great time at his Pousada.

Property is at one end of Jabaquara beach which itself is not the best beach in the area although its not far at all from historic center 3(min taxi ride ). Here is where things are not supportive for courteous Hospitality for Visitors. The Cost/value just plummets when you pay Top dollar for average service and Hospitality. Taxi driver wanted 50 R for trip. I pay considerably less for a ride from Ipanema to Santa Teresa Neigborhoodd in Pricy Rio de Janeiro. Stay in the Historic center of Paraty with the hospitable brazilian locals who are fair and receptive in the tourist buissness. The historic center has a plethora of wonderful accomodations and services.

Absolutely beautiful gardens and shared space, the rooms were beautiful with good amenities (and thankfully an air conditioner), it was like staying in a gorgeous piece of the rain forest

The Pousada is everything they advertised and more!!! It is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at. The owners are nice and friendly and make you feel welcome. Orbitz had not made our reservation so when we arrived they didn’t know we were coming but they took care of us and they had a chalet open that we stayed in. They went above and beyond to make our stay great. If you use Orbitz to book make sure they have done there part but I would recommend contacting the owner and not using Orbitz.

The staff Denise and owners Ivan and Ricardo are very welcoming. Denise’s breakfast and crepes are delicious, and Ricardo and Ivan will help you to find the most beautiful sites to visit! I definitely recommend and will be back visiting them!!! Loved my stay!!!

Beautiful tropical paradise
Wonderful stay. We only wished we had more time to further enjoy this beautiful pousada. Owners/ staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. They helped us plan our boat trip and reserved our spot for us. Delicious breakfasts. Everything was perfect.

Lovely quaint hideaway in the tropics
Lovely quaint hideaway a few steps from the beach and some wonderful bars. The Pousada is tranquil, peaceful with French relaxing music played in the background. The swimming pool was absolutely beautiful too. The slight let down was the bedroom which was a little humid but to be expected . Overall it was a wonderful place and I would go back there tomorrow!

This place is so wonderful, it also has six cats that add a lot of charm to the place. The rooms are perfect with these cute little front porches that make a beautiful morning coffee. The included breakfast is delicious! We originally booked for one day but liked it so much that we stayed another day.

A little piece of paradise
Loved this little pousada and it’s owners. We were made to feel very welcome. Lovely tea and cakes at 5pm! Very welcome. Lovely breakfasts with fresh cooked crepes if you like!

Relaxing and beautiful
We really enjoyed our stay at Eliconial. The hosts are great people, friendly, helpful and with lots of good advice on what to do and where to go. Especially nice was the visits from the monkeys every morning while enjoying a really tasty breakfast inspired by the French cuisine. I hope to someday travel back here!

The amazing Eliconial
We have completed 3 days of complete relaxation at Poussada Elioconal. The hosts Ricardo and Roberto were very helpful, spoke several languages including English. We really enjoyed hearing some Ricardos world travels told in a very understated manner. The pool is beautiful surrounded by the most idyllic tropical trees and foliage and a magnificent garden. The accomodation, especially the mattress was of the highest quality. Coffee regularly available and jacuzzi and sauna.We were made to feel completely at home and experienced the warmest of hospitality.We are both in our 60's and have travelled a lot and this was by far our best experience ever...for comfort, hospitality and enjoyment overall. Quiet...comfort...utter.relaxation. We really didnt want to leave. A thousand thanks to Ricardo, Roberto and all the team. If you go to Paraty you must stay here!!! Mary and Derry

Tropical wonderland!
We stayed for three days in this beautiful place. I have lived in Hawaii and in Mexico for many years and to see the care they have given to all the plants on the land is wonderful!! The owners work constantly to fulfill your every request,the breakfast complete with crepes of your desire. Ask any questions and they are prepared to help as much as they can. Don,t hesitate and book this six room boutique oasis of tropical wonderland!

Perfect in everyway.
Amazing stay, could not of been more perfect. Our host made us so welcome from the moment we arrived. Lovely room, spotlessly clean and just so relaxing. Breakfast is amazing, you have to try the crepes.. Mmmmm... I have stayed in so many hotels around the world and I must say this is a very special place. I have never been so sad to leave a hotel. I miss our hosts, the monkeys, the dog, the parrot. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Absolutely Perfect!
An amazing, peaceful oasis in a beautiful town. Roberto, Christina and everyone is incredible and go out of their way to make each detail of accommodations, amenities, service and grounds perfect. Delicious breakfast, complimentary afternoon "happy hour," relaxing pool/spa/sauna, the most comfortable bed and pillows in South America and the list goes on and on. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

Perfect little getaway spot to relax. We came here after Rio and it was the ideal change of pace. Staff was amazingly friendly and welcoming. They even prepared a little breakfast for us the day before when we had to leave at 5:00 AM; it was such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend the place.

From the moment we arrived, we loved it! The room was perfect and the outdoor space is a lush garden with cats, a parrot, a dog and a family of monkeys who come every morning to enjoy the delicious breakfast. The guys who own and manage the pousada couldn't have been nicer, more welcoming or more helpful. I would return to Brazil just to stay here again. No matter how good something is, there is always a negative...except for this pousada, absolutely no negatives here. They helped organize a private transfer from GIG and gave us information to catch the bus back to Rio. The owners and manager are well traveled and brilliant to speak with. Much like the animals residing on premise who all just showed up on their own and stayed, part of us will never leave either. Book a room ASAP!

Great property with a great host!
We loved staying here and would come again if we were ever in town. We were hesitant to book here since it's further from the historic center, but ended up loving it. Yvan was a great host, made us feel very welcome and comfortable. He gave us great tips of things to do around Paraty and was a great guide. The room was very comfortable, cute, and very clean. Everything worked perfectly, including the AC!!! and everything in the bathroom. Breakfast was AMAZING. The pool and hot tub were also in fantastic shape, which we enjoyed as well. Love, love, love!

Pousada with a big heart
From the first contact with this hotel I had a great feel for the place: Ricardo and his team were so helpful with advice and arranged our transport from Rio and back. There is a very personal feel to the place, we loved it and felt at home there - were very sad to leave. It is a very manageable walk away from the centre of Paraty: there are buses and a taxi service but we never felt the need to use these over our three nights stay.

Fabulous place to stay!
We had a wonderful stay at Eliconial. The staff here, Ricardo, Roberto, Thomas, Christine etc are all so very friendly and helpful. The pousada is a short walk to the beach and restaurant/bars so all very convenient. There is a local bus into town every hour or so but if the weather is good it's only a 20 minute walk into the old town which is fabulous to explore. The rooms at Eliconial are very comfortable and the swimming pool, spa and sauna are fabulous! The breakfast is amazing with a great selection of fruits, bread/toast, jams, cereal and even crepes! We would definitely recommend Eliconial and would stay here again.

Incredible pousada
Stayed only 2 nights but would have loved to have stayed more. Was met by the host who offered us a beer:drink on arrival whilst sorting out the stay information. He was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information for what to do. (which we did and had a great time! Go to Trindade beaches!). The room was clean and had a hammock to lie in outside. The place is covered with tropical gardens and there was loads of wildlife - marmoset monkeys were in the trees, humming birds were in the flowers by the pool and they have 8 cats, a parrot and a dalmation! Breakfast very good and hosts friendly. Would have loved to stay more but were on a strict intinery around Brazil.

Very quiet and reasonably close to a good swimming beach and a cluster of good restaurants. About a 20 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride from the centre of Paraty. This is a delightful and scenic town with good places to eat and shop. The hotel owners and staff are wonderfully cheerful and helpful. The pousada has a good sauna and swimming pool in a garden environment and serves a great breakfast. Recommended to all.

Beautiful pousada in tranquil surroundings
I have travelled a lot for both business and pleasure and can safely say that Eliconial Pousada is the best accomodation of it's type I have ever stayed in. It's very safe, private and set in beautiful, peaceful and homely surroundings. My wife and I spent 5 nights there between visits to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Firstly, the staff (Roberto, Ricardo, Yvan, Cristina and Antonia) were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Between them they speak Portuguese, English and French. Also worth a mention are Louis the dalmation and Caio the parrot!!! The pousada is set within lots of tropical plants, trees and flowers and has been decorated and furnished in keeping with it's homely, understated feel. At the heart of the pousada are the pool, jacuzzi and sauna which are modern and immaculately clean. After a day of sightseeing it was a fantastic way to end the day. The jacuzzi is a must! We stayed in a standard room which, although not luxurious is tastefully decorated and, like everything else, very clean. The bed also had the option of a mosquito net, not that we came across many bugs while we were there. The breakfast was excellent. Plenty of fruit, yoghurt, juice, cereal, bread and cakes. Cristina and Antonia will also make eggs and crepes to order! Even though it's not in the historical centre, we didn't find the walk from Jabaquara too demanding or unsafe and if you have a car or bike then it's no problem at all. We loved it and would recommend it!

Fantastic stay
The Eliconial Pousada was beautiful, Ivan, Roberto and Ricardo were so friendly, helpful and welcoming, making the our stay there (as part of our honeymoon) fantastic. It was a little further away from the centre of Paraty than we had anticipated, so sometimes taxis back after a long day were required, but the surrounding area was tranquil with a good selection of nearby restaurants/bars on the beach itself. Would definitely go back again!

A very warm welcome
We stayed at this Pousada for just 2 nights but could have stayed much longer. The owner and staff could not do enough for us. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were very helpful with recommending restaurants and helped organised our Schooner trip. The pool area was beautiful and an excellent breakfast. No worries about getting into town as the very frequent and reliable bus is outside the door.

Warmly welcomed, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and were sad to leave. It is true what they say "We are not strangers, just friends who haven't met" Ivan and rest could not have been more accommodating. Wi-Fi works great. The town is within walking distance, the beach is a stone's throw away. After a day of a boat trip or walking in town or whatever, you come back to friendly conversation, freshly made coffee and then relax in sauna and Jacuzzi. The Caipirinhas are amazing and made with love. Everyone is just happy to help and answer any questions. We can not recommend this place enough!!! ***We recommend La Luna restaurant when it is open - great food and atmosphere.*** ***Avoid the Pizza at all costs if you can although go to the hostel for music and drinks as its great there. The place is run by hippies with love. The pizza is so salty, and the ingredients are all processed. I don't know what kind of cheese they use, but they put far too much of it on the pizza. If you have to, stay away from anything with ham or mushrooms (not real)***

Excellent small friendly hotel
This hotel / Pousada is an a gem of place. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and able to help with anything you need. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be in comfort and paradise. The beach is 5 minutes away with lots of beach bars and only 25 min walk from the historical centre. I would happily stay here again in a heart beat!

My first time to Paraty... Wonderful City and The Eliconial was even more beautiful in person. Lush garden on block from the beach and 5 min to Old Town. Richard and Roberto were amazing hosts. Breakfast amazing. Rooms very clean and new. Monkees and animals everywhere. I would come back and stay here for many days.
