When we went to check in, they said they don’t book through Expedia. So I had to call Expedia who called the hotel and gave me a credit. The hotel was disgusting. It was under renovation. It was dirty. My husband said the room was dirty and full of flies. There was a couple in the parking lot, a woman sitting in their dead beat car and a man sitting on the ground behind the driver’s side door doing something in his lap. Not sure, but didn’t want to stare and find out. I doubt he was doing the New York Times crossword puzzle. The place was creepy. Take their hotel off your site. I went to get a refund within minutes of paying. They refused a refund. I’ll call the manager tomorrow. Terrible experience.

I got there to check in but hotel was close for remodeling. It was available online, that's why I booked. they even didn't response the call. I am still waiting to get my money back. I had terrible time to find other hotel since it was weekend and all rooms booked. I had to come back!!!!!!!

It was closed and condemned.
After an eight-hour drive the Economy Inn in Holland was closed with a condemned sign in the window of each unit. We had not been notified by the hotel or Expedia. We were on the phone with Expedia for an hour but they offered no help. It took us three hours to find a room. We will never book through Expedia again.

Checked out hotel prior to registering. As suspected the hotel was less than 2 stars as promoted. The motel is used more as a place of residence by the week. A policeman stationed nearby, indicated that the area had less than a desirable record. Expedia should not have had this hotel on its listing. When we called Expedia was less than helpful. We found another hotel nearby, which was definitely a two star, but much better.

Economy Inn not a good place to stay in Holland
The rooms did not smell good, they smelled like old stale smoke. My daughter has allergies and was sick when we left on sunday. Employees where not friendly. We needed more towels and wash clothes and they did not have any. Bedspreads where soiled. We did not enjoy the room at all.

Upon Arrival At Our Destination
The exterior of the Economy Lodge was very disappointing in appearance. The were curtains hanging out of the windows and people leaning out smoking. The interior lobby was very unappealing. The desk clerk was cordial and my wife made the decision she would not feel very comfortable or safe at their motel. She explained this to the clerk and he said we had to cancel within the 24 hour notice period or be charged for the room. On the internet, everything nice / clean / taken care of. In real life, that was totally not the case. We have stayed at Economy Lodges in the past and found them priced right and clean. I am sorry to say, this was not the case at this location. We can not rate the cleanliness / condition of the room because they choose not to be taken to their room. Even though we had to rate the room, two of the people in the party refused to go to the room.

Room full of cigarette smell and I was not able to breathe my whole night. Air conditioner did not work. No change was offered due to Tulips time. Do yourself a favor and stay away. They lost me as a customer forever. Not suitable for family set up.

Disappointing
My husband and I were visiting Holland because our daughter is a student at Hope College. Since it was family weekend we had a hard time finding a place to stay that would also take our dog. It cost us more to stay there than it would have at a nicer hotel. They boasted on their sign that they had a lot of channels, however, they evidently didn't pay their bill because a box popped up on the screen stating that they were about to lose their service. There wasn't enough hot water to even wash my face in the morning. The carpet was worn and there was no chair in the room even though there was a desk. There was a lot of trash outside and we tracked in cigarette butts. There were burn holes in the bedspread.

I had to call 911 at 2am due to the woman next door screaming "ahhhhhhh!!!! Help me!!!!! Help me!!!! Oh my god! Ahhhhh!!!" So. I didnt want to stay my scheduled second night. Nope. No refund. Flies in room. Tv barely worked. Staff looked like he just crawled out of bed with his shirt half unbuttoned and hair a mess. Not professional. Just a crap experience and will never never stay there again. I gladly paid for the second night i didnt use, and just stayed down the street at a much better hotel for the same price. Well. I survived the night withought getting murdered. Thats the only reason i give it the minimal one star. The place is horrid. Im trying to think of something positive to say about that crap stain. Nope. Cant think of anything.

You Get What You Pay For
Spent two nights at this property because there were no reasonably priced rooms anywhere in the South Haven area. This property was the cheapest property in the area. The room is large and has a fridge. The air conditioner also did a great job. The property is on highway 31 so getting to near by towns was easy. Would have rated the place higher if the room didn't have a slight odor and if the continental breakfast actually had something to eat. A good thing to know is that the restaurant next to the hotel has a great breakfast at a fair price.

Rooms were newly painted and motel was being reroofed. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Were awakened at 4 a.m. by drunks standing in front of our room and arguing.

A place to rest your head, period.
Planning on checking in late, sleeping and checking out early? Then this place would be good. Don't plan on hanging out in room or anywhere else. TV/cable was terrible, no place other than bed to sit. No place to eat food in room.

Would NOT stay here again!!!
Expedia informed me that Economy Inn was the only hotel in the Holland area that offered an in-room Jacuzzi tub, so I reserved the room. When we arrived to check in, we were disturbed to see that the hotel's location is very unpleasant (my husband referred to it as a ghetto and did not want to leave the room after dark!). Other complaints: 1. Our NON smoking room smelled like cigarettes, 2. The bathroom door was partway off it's hinges and would not close, 3. The Jacuzzi tub was OLD and made an extremely loud noise when the jets were turned on, 4. There were children running up and down the outside pathway yelling and adults out there speaking loudly, which we could hear clearly (perhaps the walls are thin?), 5. The bedding and curtains were old and worn and the pillows were flat, lumpy and uncomfortable, 6. There were NO staff available in the office to complain to or to help resolve our issues.

Hotels in Holland are expensive and fill up fast. Book early!!!! When I made my reservation, it was this hotel or a drive to GR. I paid a high price for a room where the curtains were not wide enough to cover the window, leaving a three foot gap with no curtains. I had a small blanket in my bag and covered the window with that. There was a table, that could be used as a desk, but no chair. You had to do computer work either standing up or laying on the bed. There was no bedside table, so they were using the rack that is meant to hold your suitcase, as a table for the phone. The sign in front said four kinds of HBO, But the TV was so old and buzzed so loud, it was not worth watching. This place should be leveled and replaced with a new hotel.

Run down motel
This Motel was completely run down inside and out. This place seems to be the main motel in the area that allows people to "live" there. Although the motel was "non smoking" our room was FULL of smoke because the people living in the room next to us chained smoked inside, who were relatives of the front desk clerk. The walls were full of random stains and dirt, lights didn't work, toilet didnt flush and when we pulled back the bed spread there was a old wrapper in the sheet. DO NOT book this hotel and expect a relaxing vacation spot. There is also a sign in the lobby saying " If you feel like you need to call the police please call the front desk first and see if we can resolve the issue, anyone who has the police called on them willl be forced to leave."

I stayed there because everywhere else was booked. I can understand economy, I did not expect luxury room. But it was dirt carpet, never vaccum, it was dust everywhere . At least sheets were clean.

What are they trying to hide with all that carpet fresh powder? The management was nice enough. She was very accommodating when I told her I couldn't stay here, and the carpet powder smell was too overwhelming for me and my daughter. But I still have to give an honest review to warn people. If this is the last place to stay in Holland, MI (which it was on the Saturday night we needed a room - everything else was sold out), then spend another 30 minutes on the road and find a place in Grand Rapids. (like I did.)

Stayed 30 Minutes and checked back out.
We checked in and it smelled of smoke, we got we than got a different room and it was small air conditioning didn't work right the bath room was so small there was standing room.You could see under the door and the key's had a hard time opening the door. I stayed there 30 minutes and checked out and found a nice hotel in Grand Rapid's, MI at the Ramada INN for 20 dollars a night more and was happy with that Hotel. It had a Pool with a 3 story slide, a whirl pool, a game room and Gym and a Nice and clean Room with plenty of space..

Worst motel experience I've ever had
I have stayed at a lot of motels in my life, but this is the MOST DISGUSTING, REPUGNANT motel I have ever been too. Where to begin? First of all, after asking for an extra pillow, the clerk said he would just have to switch rooms since he had no extra pillows up front. The second room he gave us smelled like urine, and made us gag. Back to another room which had: Sticky floors, hair on the sink, no fresh toilet paper roll, no plastic cups, horrible cable TV reception, cigarette smell, mop stains on the floor. Not to mention, an incredibly rude front desk clerk who preferred to be on his cell phone than help customers who had these copious complaints. We were afraid to take off our shoes there, and the bathroom was disgusting all together to even use. But there's no way we wanted to even sit on the bed. We stayed there for about 15 minutes, and then left. I implore all of you, never EVER stay here. It made us want to throw up, and once we found a BETTER hotel in the area, we immediately had to shower. I actually feel anxious thinking about how terrible this experience was, and I constantly shook my head in disbelief at the horrible customer service and the horrendous room. ECONO LODGE / ECONOMY INN: you should be ashamed to have this hotel as one of your locations.

The sheets on one of the beds had a cool aid stain on both sheets in the same spot, so this tells me they didn't change this bed. No coffee pots, no hair dryer, no alarm clock, no breakfast like advertised. Someone elses hair on the bathroom floor. It was disgusting.

Cheap hotel for a cheap price
My husband and I planned a last minute trip and couldn't find another hotel in our price range. We were very disappointed with the friendliness of the staff and the condition of the rooms. We had a non smoking room and had to change rooms because the smell of stale smoke filled the room. I was sick the moment we walked in the room. The lady at the front desk did change the room for us. But the second room was quite honestly disgusting. We didn't even want to walk on the floor with bare feet. The room was musty and severely in need of a updating. I wanted to change hotels but everything in the area was booked up.

The advertised items were not as promised. WiFI worked somewhat but not all the time. I finally put my laptop away. The TV stations had a loud hum in some of the audio. The free local calls would have worked if there was a phone in my room. This also made the chance of a wake-up call impossible. Breakfast was not available as of 7:30AM. THere are multipel lower cost hotels in the area that make this one unacceptable.

We walked into this room, the walls were filthy, the bathroom tub had mold around it, and pen writing all over the walls, the carpets were so dirty you walk across without shoes on, and your feet or socks were black, will not be back there

Rough place to stay
Well, arrived on sat at 3pm check-in time. People coming in and out looked like they lived there, if u know what I mean(paid monthly). Gave my family a room that smelled as if the cleaning person was smoking a cigar just before we got there. So after requesting and getting a new room, we were ok. We brought young kids which wasn't good considering the new room didn't even have a cover on the air conditioner/heater unit(all internal parts exposed). Luckily we had a pack n play and kept littlest in it. Would not recommend even at the price.

The hotel is very near to Holland Downtown and economical as well. The hotel is good for short stays .The room was clean but shower head was missing .Overall it was ok for the short visit .Moreover one can not expect much at this price.

Horrible experience
Worst motel I have ever been in. Carpet dirty, Mildew in bathroom, no amenities, dingy, general appearance very poor. I have stayed in hotels and motels in the U.S. and Europe and this one is by far the worst I have encountered. Absolutely not recommended.

What a dive.
Dirty. Smelled of mildew. Tile shower enclosure "patched" below shower head with a large piece of plastic caulked over the tile. It was a busy week - everywhere was booked. Otherwise, I would have sought refund and looked for lodging elsewhere.
