We regret any inconvenience regarding the lack of Sky TV channels; we currently offer free local channels as per management. Additionally, while we do not have air conditioning, we provide heaters and fans for guest comfort. The installation of air conditioning is in progress, and we are coordinating with management for its delivery. We hope to welcome you back for an improved experience in the future

Nice location right off the main beach walkway and very close to the main downtown block. Very basic furnishings but clean bathroom and comfy bed. We left some items in the room and they kindly shipped them for us for a small fee. Wifi wasn't very good despite our room being close to the lobby.

Great location for walking to the beach or in the town for shopping & eateries. Considered the room small & dreary (Driftwood section) however it was clean & a comfortable bed. Didn't find the staff very accomodating for a small request.

One night at Beachfront motel Driftwood King room
We stayed 1 night at Beachfront motel Driftwood King room. The room was good .the only comment for improvement is that our room 110 Driftwood King had a bad odor in the bathroom. It was not constantly there , I believe its must be related to the bathroom sink or toilet when you flush it . Fill out the sheet comment in my room so I hope management takes care of it. Overall our stay was good

The staff at this hotel were amazing, friendly and professional. We stayed in the driftwood rooms which are cheaper. There was easy parking in the hotel car park. The rooms were clean, tidy and functional. We dined in the Ocean View restaurant and the food and drink were exceptional, one of the best meals I have had whilst in New Zealand. The staff were very attentive. In the evening you can see nice sunset views from the hotel, from the restaurant and the beach and shops are only a short walk from the hotel.

View from the restaurant was magnificent.
A hotspot for the internet really wasn't enough, and we weren't really in the hotel but in a different building the other side of the restaurant with a view over the front road - we had to drive around with our luggage, and no lift to first floor. However room was a reasonable size and had a movable fan, comfortable enough.

Spacious, clean, attention to detail, and good service. This hotel provides a wonderful experience for those looking to vacation. In terms of our room it was very spacious and big in addition to being clean. There were little details that made this hotel amazing including the front desk workers who recommended us extraordinary places to visit. Overall I very much recommend with the beautiful view.

Brilliantly located hotel. The rooms and furniture are a little dated but the hotel was clean and fresh. It’s right on the promenade and oceanfront rooms have parking right outside. Overall we had a good one night stay. We didn’t eat at the hotel so cannot comment, but Stone bakery next door was great for breakfast.

Hotel is located off the beach and the room was spacious. Cleanliness could be improved. I found a few bits of food on the floor and long hairs. It was disappointing when I asked at reception if I could borrow a cereal bowl, I was told no. Felt a little awkward especially when the receptionist said she didn’t have a cereal bowl there at reception to give me! Encouraged to buy a disposable bowl from the supermarket, which goes against the sustainability agenda and single use plastics.

Shocking restaurant policy
This is a good hotel albeit expensive. I have rated the service poor as we had a bad experience when trying to book in the hotel for dinner ie a normal thing you would do all over the world? We were advised that they only take bookings for 6+ people but we would be ok for just the 2 of us. On arrival at the restaurant for 8pm we were told they were full but we could come back in an hour but couldn’t guarantee us a table! It’s basic hotel hospitality to look after the guests 1st? I fully accept that the business wants to maximise its profitability but the management policy here is just wrong! I felt that the 2 ladies on reception were embarrassed by this but there was nothing they could do - an apology would have been a start. A South African Management company seems to be taking over the town so expect the customer last (not 1st) policy to spread throughout this quaint town! Caveat Emptor!

It was always our policy not to take bookings over the busy season to give everybody an equal chance to visit our great restaurant with great food. Modest room, no frills
It’s a fine place for a night. Definitely not high end but nothing there is. Our room was micro sized although our friends room was quite large at same price. No lift so you’ll have to carry bags up if you have an upstairs room. No microwave.
