"Outdated old country hotel. Poor flow of shower and toilet did not flush properly. Poor quality bacons and sausages were used at breakfast. Holiday inn breakfast is better. Disappointed. Not worth for the money."

"Simply cannot say enough good things about the George and the staff there! A wonderful old building so there are some oddly shaped corridors as you'd expect but they only add charm to what is already a fabulous location and venue. The room was clean, comfortable and I felt right at home the moment I got there. All the facilities you can expect in a hotel room. Bed was comfy, sheets were clean. The bathroom was clean and well put together given the limited space available. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and there was no shortage of options to suit everyone. I had the eggs benedict and felt set up and ready for the day ahead. But most of all the staff were exceptional. All were friendly, helpful and really easy to approach with queries. In particular they went out of their way to help me, nothing was too much trouble. Would recommend this place to anyone and would be happy to come again!"

The Thatched Cottage Inn

"Firstly I would not recommend this place to stay to anyone. On the plus side the room was clean but any so called amenities were pretty basic for what was described as 4 star. To be told on arrival by the manager/chef/barman/probably everything this as he seemed to be the only person on the premises, that there was no food due to no delivery was a bit of a blow. Then be told that an English breakfast was going to be an additional £8 per head also didn't go down well. We were informed that breakfast was between 8-10. Thankfully we were only staying the one night, as in the morning no breakfast appeared infact nobody in the place seemed to be around. My wife and I began to think apart from others who were staying noone else was in the property, infact I had to unlock the front entrance first thing. We ended up leaving our room keys on the bar and left. Clearly the place is being run if you can say run on a shoe string. Unless some serious organisation/work on the place is carried out ASAP then closure is inevitable, which would be a great shame for a lovely building."

"Staff were friendly and helpful, accommodation was clean, room was lovely. Parking is ample although there is a charge per day that isn’t clear on their website although I expect it is relative to the excellent central location. We would definitely stay here again."
The Stones Hotel

"One of our rooms was very hot and loud because it’s near the extraction fan from the restaurant. Another room where my parents stayed, the heating was on (during a May heat wave) and the tap/showering water was boiling hot with no cold running at all. The staff came to check, said there are no spare rooms to switch to because of the bank holiday weekend. They called the manager, promised to give me an answer, but then I saw ran to her car and never showed again. I asked another staff member. They called the manager and said they will give me partial refund and discount for breakfast, but I will need to wait until 9am tomorrow for the manager to come. We waited until 11am and the manager never showed up. I left my number to ask them to call me. No returned call. I have asked agent to follow up with them. Again, 1st they said they will refund, but need to wait the manager to sign off. I just received message that this hotel refused to refund. They charged double their usual rate and they provided little to no service, no management and poor living conditions."

"One of the best hotels I have had the privilege to stay in❤️ From the checking in with Amanda to the room itself, absolutely beautiful . A pitty the weather didn’t play ball, location amazing , view amazing , city a short stroll away. If you want a nice hotel this is the one for you!"
