This property had some of the best views I have seen. Rooms were clean, staff was very kind and accommodating. The restaurant was very good, go with an appetite and comfortable shoes as the walk is steep but fairly short.

Maca bana is the place to stay if you are looking for a serene paradise, far away from cookie cutter resorts. The property views are breathtaking, the beach sand is the softest I’ve felt, and the beach is tucked away, providing a private paradise. The people working here were extremely attentive and friendly, in particular Joanne at the front, and her recommended driver, Chris. We will be back!

Maca Bana is a compound of villas of various colors and sizes. We stayed in Mango, a two bedroom, two bath villa and it was perfect for our needs. We had a full size kitchen and the fridge was already filled with breakfast items, eggs, bacon, bread, yogurt, orange juice and milk. For our first evening there, we opted to dine out at The Aquarium, the restaurant at the bottom of the property. It is a steep driveway down to the restaurant so you will get a bit of a workout especially when coming back up. The food was average, service was very good and the location is a few steps from the beach. Our bedrooms were spacious and allowed us to stretch out and relax. The deck surrounding the villa was extraordinary, offering us a beautiful view of the ocean every day. The pool was just a walk away from the villa. The beach is accessible through The Aquarium restaurant and is a quiet stretch of sand. This was a fantastic stay and made so much better with excellent assistance from Joanne, who runs the resort. She connected us with a trustworthy taxi driver who took us to various spots on the island. Joanne also set us up with a fantastic masseuse for our last day. While it rained outside, we each enjoyed a massage. Besides Joanne, we were treated so well by everyone on staff and we could not have asked for a better way to celebrate our anniversary but more importantly, help our daughter move into SGU. We will be coming back here.

If you want to snorkel off the beach this is a great place to stay. We stayed in the three-bedroom villa. The bedrooms are air-conditioned, but the living room / kitchen does not have A/C, so it was rather hot in the common area. Restuarant is tasty, but also does not have A/C and is not always open. Breakfast items were included with the room so we could make our own breakfast since the restaurant was not open.

The grounds are well manicured. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. The view was lovely. I got the peace and quiet I was looking for at Maca Bana. Well appointed room. This is a beautiful Villa style, hotel tucked in tropical vegetation on top of the hill overlooking the bay. Simply amazing. JoAnne and Colleen took very good care of us, helped us with transport and tours, and were always pleasant. Thank you for everything!

The view was great and the villa has a good kitchen and fridge. However, we were extremely disappointed at the fact that the hot tub was not working for the first two nights of a 6 night stay. The initial response was "it's not supposed to get that hot", but the water was cold. They finally fixed it. On the third and fourth night of our stay, there was very loud music coming up from the restaurant late at night. The bass made the bedroom walls shake. We did complain but the music was not turned down. The "explanation" for one night was "we had a private function that ran late" and the second was "the music was coming from somewhere else", even though we had personally checked the source of the music. We didn't book a party hotel! On the 5th day of our stay I talked to the manager to (again) let her know that we were having a disappointing stay. There was no attempt to rectify the situation in any way, not even a token complimentary drink. Nice view, but definitely not "luxury", not "boutique" and not "resort".

Great start to our honeymoon
After multiple delays of our wedding and honeymoon, we finally left the U.S. Joanne welcomed us to MacaBana and was readily available for anything we needed. We stayed in the Mango Villa for 6 nights. It was quiet, roomy, and we couldn’t get enough of the view. We had our coffee and breakfast on the deck that overlooks the water and faces st. George every morning. We ventured out to other areas on the island most days and never had any issues getting to or from anywhere. The location was very close to the airport, which made me nervous when booking, but you would really never know the airport is a 10 minute walk away. The Aquarium restaurant onsite on Magazine beach has a popular Sunday BBQ and live music (and good food). If you’re looking for a party scene or all-inclusive life, this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for a place to relax and take in some great views and have easy access to a small beach not overridden with tourists, and one of the best restaurants on the island, this place is perfect.

Joanne was wonderful. Cleaning ladies did a great job and very friendly. Had resort to ourselves most of the time . Food at restaurant was great. Unfortunately manings closed down and curfew was in place when tjere but happy we had a great place to stay

Overall a great stay. The view, the hot tub, the bed/pillows were all fantastic. Joanne, the property manager was helpful as well. The wifi wasn't working properly and I asked for it to be fixed (router most likely needed to be reset) and Joanne said she contacted the service provider, but it never worked. The drain in the shower was jagged and had to be avoided in order to not cut your foot. There was some ants in the kitchen, but I saw them at all of my locations in Grenada so I was used to them. Lastly, and this was partly my fault (must not have locked the main door to the villa) we had an unexpected visitor passed out in our hot tub when we woke up in the morning. She wasn't a guest and actually came back to the resort the next day to get the ring she left on the patio/deck. The good outweighed the small issues, and uninvited guest. The restaurant staff were lovely climbing up the hill a few times to deliver food/drinks. Not recommended for handicap or people who can't take a short, but steep walk down to the beach/restaurant. Views make the trip down worth it though.

My hubby and i stayed there for the first 3 of our honeymoon in Nov 2019! We LOVED it and SO glad we chose it over a more touristy resort like Sandals. The villas are marvelously unique, and the privacy is excellent (and you get youre OWN jacuzzi! You wouldnt get that at Sandals and itd be more expensove anyways). We requested to stay in the Paw Paw room; we think its the best bc its right on the edge of the cliff so the extra privacy and views are a plus. Everyone on staff had warm personalities, you can ask them anything and they are helpful and the having the resturant right there is convient! We will definitely be going back in the years to come, Lord willing!

Most amazing !!!!
So, we have been to many places in the world between us. However, have have both agreed that this hotel resort and location has been the best experience so far. The staff (Joanne) has been wonderful. We can honestly say that we could see ourselves living here forever.. lol. I’m laying on the surprising comfortable bed (and I do mean comfortable) looking out at the mountains in the distance, listening to the waves crash on to the beautiful beach that I can also see. Thinking of having a nice orange juice in the hot tub in a minute. Romantic, amazing and extraordinary place. Even the fact that the restaurant was closed for the day had a silver lining to us. The boss allowed all of the staff to go and enjoy Spice Mass during carnival. You don’t find these kind of bosses anymore. Happy staff success business. Smart man. Sympathetic man. Planning our wedding next October. We will be back.

No better place to stay when in Grenada !
This hotel by far exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the Paw Paw villa which I specifically booked in advance. Joanne at the front desk was so nice and hospitable. From the time we walked in the room we were blown away by the view, so Beautiful! The villas are very private and feel so secluded , yet literally 3 mins from the airport ! We stayed for 5 nights. The kitchen was stocked with breakfast items which lasted our entire stay. Our room was clean and comfortable with a view to die for ... there was an amazing sunset every day just behind the villa. the Aquarium restaurant had excellent food, and very reasonable. Loved the rum punch ! The beach is one of the best I’ve been on ... I personally preferred it to grand anse. Never felt the need to leave. Quiet and nice. The hot tub was on all day and night , came in handy when it poured rain, we didn’t mind at all as we had the option to go in. Over all Maca Bana is exceptional if you are looking for something quiet and peaceful , would recommend to anyone!

Feels like home!
Maca Bana was the perfect place for us! This private boutique hotel feels very secluded although it is just up the hill from the airport. (You could actually walk there if you don't have much luggage and don't mind the big hilll) The villas are situated atop a cliff that gives spectacular 360 views of the sea. The villas have all the modern conveniences of a condo in FL and then some. Everything is VERY clean and well thought out, including the provision that are provided for breakfast in your room. The gardens and trees are beautiful. You can pick a banana or a mango off the tree and eat it! Flowers, birds, turtles and other little friendly creatures make relaxing on the deck entertaining. The pool and hot tub and well maintained. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. The Aquarium restaurant is reasonably priced and has great food! Delicious options, great service and all with a view of the beach that will impress! There is a nice beach at the bottom of the paved walkway. Snorkle gear and beach services are available at the office. Maca Bana is a great place to stay if you want to feel like you're home, but with maid service and super friendly neighbors. If you want the big resort experience this might not be your place. Also if you have mobility issues you may find it difficult to navigate this property. Although the staff is so cool they will probably find a way to assist you. We'll be back! - Mary and Sid

We stayed at Maca Bana for two nights before we boarded for a cruise. It was everything I had wanted - beautiful views, very comfortable room, private and quiet. It is only a short walk down a hill to get to the beach, which when we were there was mostly empty. The restaurant onsite has delicious food, and the kitchen in our room came stocked with eggs, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee, ham, cheese etc. Absolutely amazing and I would definitely go back again someday.

Very disappointing experience compared to expectations based on photos and price. The hotel grounds are cramped, and while the rooms are spacious and the views lovely, the place lacks warmth and attention and feels lifeless.

Another amazing vacation at Maca Bana
This was our third visit to Maca Bana and Grenada - the entire experience was amazing. Great staff, housekeeping, amenities, Villas, location, restaurant, pool - no complaints. You can do nothing but relax in your room, private hot tub, in the pool or at the (almost) private beach - or hop in a taxi (we highly recommend Taxi Ricky) and head off to explore the island. You will never be disappointed!

It was a very relaxing vacation the resort has a very good location on the beach and the atmosphere very relax and tranquil yet adventurous and scenic. The rooms were clean. As for the food this was my chalange for I an allergic to Pork, Shellfish and Sheep/mutton and when asked if the surface used to cook meats are the same surface the answer was Yes, which did dot sup prise me for its my findings at most restaurants. which chicken and vegetables would have been clocked on different surfaces.

Perfect Boutique hotel in Grenada
We stayed in Paw Paw - the most remote room but what a view. Super helpful staff. Hot tub. Fully equipped. Highly recommended.

Best location in Grenada
Lovely villa - attractively designed, spacious, well-equipped and clean. Ours had a fabulous view of the coastline, a huge terrace and a hot tub. There is a hotel swimming pool as well. Nickson and his staff looked after us very well; nothing was too much trouble. There is a lovely beach down a steep road (the ascent is too steep for very young children or those with disabilities, but there is a car park at the bottom). The Aquarium restaurant is in a wonderful location by the beach. It is open all day, offering a perfect combination of good food and wine, plenty of choice, informality, and friendliness. Don't miss the live music on Sunday afternoons! For a change of scene, we walked down the beach to the Rex Hotel a couple of times, and bought a day pass for its gorgeous pool. Food at the Rex not so good. We ate well elsewhere though. Overall, Grenada is a beautiful island, with very friendly people. It is safe and it has not been spoiled by mass tourism, although it has enough tourist development to provide all the luxuries of home. We will certainly visit again (with better mosquito repellent). Suggest avoid the local airline LIAT who cancelled our flight on the day of our departure!

Fabulous time
My wife and I had an excellent stay at the Maca Bana! We were upgraded to the coconut room on the first night and the room and view were stunning. My wife's breath was taken away. There is nothing like staying in a villa on a mountain and having total privacy but beautiful scenery. Phillip the manager was very helpful and friendly and our taxi driver Rickey was awesome. Our time at Maca Bana was truly special and when I return to Grenada, Maca Bana is where I'll be staying.

good location but very dissapointed
i have stayed at this resort 8 years ago and it was fantastic. my recent visit was not so good, Maca Bana prides it self on the panoramic views form the hot tub. But to my dismay i could only use the hot tub for 2 days out of fourteen. this is not good enough as this is the main feature of the resort. i feel as though i have been robed of my right and most importantly what i paid for. At a cost of two hundred pounds a night without the hot tub working its just a room. Nickson the manger tried his best to fix it but it remained cold for 99% of my visit.very disappointing and frustrating so idid not get what i paid for. Maca Band you must sort this out before your next customers as this is what sells the villa

Beautiful!
From the moment we checked in, Emma was very nice and welcoming! The room was absolutely perfect, modern and clean. Everything was great, the kitchen, bed, bathroom and especially our private balcony with chairs and the most amazing view of Grenada! We loved our stay and hope to return one day!
