"Right in the center of town...close to the trains"
We arrived in Glasgow after a 12 hour journey following a day at work so we immediately collapsed into bed for a 4 hour nap. We awoke for dinner but first decide to hit the pool! Wonderful facilities with a sauna after such a long journey. With the help of the staff we were able to located a number of excellent restaurant at Merchant Square which featured an open-area seating with large screen TV for viewing that was actually indoors making it a venue for dining when raining. The proximity to Glasgow Central railroad station easily allowed us to check out the trains we needed to take for the rest of our journey to the Isle of Bute: cost and train boarding locations. The hop-on/hop-off tour buses make the hotel one of their stops so it was easy to decide to venture about town. On our return the hotel invited us to check our bags and reuse the exercise facilities and wait in luxury until it was time to catch a taxi for the airport. The staff summoned one who arrived in 2 minutes at the agreed upon rate of approximately 21 pounds. So for 25 pounds we were on our way home but we could have easily taken the train connection to the bus to the airport. The hotel location offer lots of choices.
We stayed twice in August and found the hotel very nice. The rooms were large and the beds comfortable. The reception staff and concierges were remarkable, friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay great. Our room faced the back and was quiet but my sister's room faced the front and was noisy in the middle of the night when revelers were leaving the local pubs. Would recommend a rear facing room if you are staying on the weekend.
Stayed here for 10 days, August 19th to 29th. This hotel has it all, great city center location, clean comfortable rooms and super friendly staff. When my husband booked from the US he did not include breakfast, the manager kindly added this free of charge. Reading other reviews, there are some comments regards noise. My room was on the 10th floor near the corner, I had a lovely view of the river clyde, there is some street noise with the window open, this is a city after all. I ate dinner every evening either in the bar or restaurant, food was of good quality, served quickly with lovely staff. I will visit again Glasgow again in October I would be very happy to stay here again.
Quiet spectacular room, robe, fab toiletries and professional friendly staff. More like a spa than a work visit. Cool original gate style lift. Breakfast was ok but better to go to one of many coffee bars instead. Ate in Butterfly and Pig minutes away recommended by reception and superb. I felt looked after in the Arthouse which is rare for one night visits in big cities.
