Chose to get a hotel the day before our cruise set sail to be able to spend time with a friend whom I hadn’t seen in years. She lives about 45 min south of this hotel so she too chose to stay at the same property so we could maximize on the our time together.
Upon arrived at approx 5:30pm, we were told our room was still not available. Check in was at 3pm. Myself, my friend and our 3 children were eager to get in the pool and enjoy what was left of the sun. To do this we had to bring our luggage and change in the public restroom where the stalls were barely big enough for a grown adult and people whom were not paying to stay at the hotel also used.
After another hour, the front desk came to our table by the pool to inform me that I had been ‘upgraded to a suite’ and my room was ready! My friends room still was not.
I originally paid for a corner room w/ PREMIUM waterview and was told I had been upgraded to a penthouse! I’m sure you could imagine my 12yr old daughter’s excitement to hear this… I was however placed on the top floor in the middle of 2 penthouses. It’s possible this room that I was so graciously ‘upgraded’ to was the previous broom closet of a penthouse or maybe a utility closet for the top floor? It was everything but a penthouse. Beyond anticlimactic to walk into. The mold soiled bin that collects the A/C drop on balcony was atrocious but the valet leaving my keys to my car completely unattended at the front of the hotel was the final straw for me.
