Very overpriced accommodations. Perfect location. Unfortunately, the building itself is in need of repairs very soon. Part of the building above our unit actually fell while we were there. Hopefully the owner can make the needed repairs.

Amazing location. Beach access, walkable to the Main Street. Very old property, clean enough, sheets were scratchy, tons of flies, pool not useable. Great for a few nights to enjoy the beach but that’s it.

The pool was great! It was so close to everything. You don’t need to move your car. The room wasn’t fancy, but it was clean and perfect for the beach!

Disappointing experience... property was dirty and cheaply renovated... close to beach but overpriced... beds, pillows, towels all cheap, furniture all cheap... shower snd microwave dirty, asked for microwave to be recleaned housekeeping came and still did not clean it well... felt dirty the whole time we stayed... was a relief to go... nor recommended and won’t be back...

The only complaint you came to the office with was the top of the microwave which housekeeping came and took care of. The office is open to midnight and you never voiced any other concerns. Happy travels elsewhere.

The room was terrible, very dusty, old, worn out bedding, bed is 100 year old, hard to get out off. Felt disgusted. 1 good thing was, it was available for last minute booking and just minutes walking ti the beach and free parkinging on site.

The room was old,and bed had sand in it,no top sheet,very creepy and disgusting. Way too expensive we left after looking at the room and stayed somewhere else. We should have read the reviews before booking

This is a cool, old school beach inn. It’s not modern luxury, but it is clean, charming and cozy. The location is great, 2 blocks from the beach, good restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay there again.

Beware of Crabby Owner!
I talked to the owner twice-once before the trip to ensure things were lined up and once on check in. The first time he was very crabby until I reminded him I was just trying be nice and he apologized and stated that it was him, not anything I said. When I checked in he was crabby again, which put a damper on my trip. The room was fine and clean, the rest of the people there were nice, but that did not make up for the Owner’s behavior. The room was very costly so I certainly did not expect such treatment. Spend your money elsewhere- I will on my next trip.

The hotel location is very close to the shops, restaurants, beach (5 min. walking distance) which was super convenient. There was a decent size swimming pool as well. The hotel itself is old - our room was tiny, located on the first floor under the staircase, so felt like it was in the basement with an old window air conditioner that was very loud and blew cold air straight to the bed. The room was clean, though. So, overall we paid for for the location of the place, not so much for the room itself.

Yes, we are one of few Folly Beach relics, as we have been here quite a while. We are in walking distance and have found that customers like that they can enter and exit their rooms without having to greet staff each time. Please note, our website shows some of the upgraded rooms that you may have found to be more up to date. The staff was not welcoming, the room smelled funny, and the pool was green. But this place is acceptable and very convenient so I would stay there again.

The photos showed a clean modern room and instead our room was old outdated unclean and had a doorknob missing connecting our room to another room and had tissue paper in the hole to prevent peeping. Gross and inexcusable

We enjoyed staying at this property. Very close to beach and bars. Room was small, but was just fine since we spent most of our time out doing things. Staff was very friendly.

Close to beach pathways and all the attractions but the “Starscape” room’s full sized sofa bed was in broken condition which caused poor sleep, A small cot was squeezed in but the sofa never able to fold back to normal.

Upon check-in the man that I assume owns the place was surly, certainly unhappy to be there and snarky. Very rude. The room was booked through Hotels.com and he let us know how displeased he was that the room was booked through a third party. Throughout the short check in process he made snotty comments and honestly acted like we were bothering him. After that fun-fest we went to our room to find the ac off (heat index of about 100° )..nice. The bathroom was not clean, the light switches were very dirty. The mattress must have washed up on the beach, they found it and put it in the room. Days after Hurricane Dorian passed through, the windows were still boarded up. The positive: quick public beach access path.

Great location!
Great location to the beach and restaurants. Beach access right across the street, so not a far walk at all! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The man who checked us in was knowledgeable about the area and events, even told us about the upcoming meteor shower that night! Room was small, but that was expected, it worked okay for my boyfriend and me. It was clean which was most important. Bed was comfortable. There is an ice machine, but it stopped worked by our third day, so hopefully that gets fixed soon! Room had a fridge and microwave. Overall we would stay here again!

We provide current pictures of our rooms to our third party booking sites so that no customer is confused on the age or appearance of our hotel. Though it seems it was not to your liking, we do have many guests who enjoy the old Folly experience. Better luck next time on your vacation choice.

Message to Management: Get rid of that ridiculous monstrosity of a bed frame and put in a standard king box spring and mattress on wheels and call it good. It appears that its an old waterbed mattress frame that’s too low to the floor so you can’t sit comfortably on it. The pivot point for getting out of the bed is right at the joint under the knee and the wood beam hurts when you put all of your weight on it to get out of the bed, and age and physical condition has nothing to do with it. The furniture is too big, there’s no walk around room. Hang the TV on the wall, put the fridge over in the corner where the safe is (ditch the safe and microwave) and put a narrow wall table under the TV. Ventilation in the room is poor and I could only get one window partially opened and there was no screen, so the bugs can get in? I wouldn’t have made such a big deal but this was advertised as the best room. Having said that, it’s a good location, free parking out front, the staff was friendly and the room was clean, but very uncomfortable. Management needs a new pair of eyes to take a look at their place. The rule I used when I worked for myself was: The first-time customer pays for the overhead; the return customer is all free and clear, that’s what goes in the pocket. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.

We truly appreciate your feedback and we will be looking at options to upgrade the room. Expedia must have advertised it as the best room as we promote our rooms the same way. I hope that you at least enjoyed your visit to Folly and if you check the pictures out , you can clearly see we have other more spacious rooms. We regret that the bedding did not work out for you, but we actually have customers that adore it. I wish you wouldn't let the bed cause you to not return as we want our customers to have an enjoyable stay with us. Unfortunately we were at capacity during your stay or we would have relocated you to a different room. Everyone enjoys different bedding, some like a firm mattress and others prefer something softer. I apologize that your room choice did not meet your standards in bedding, but again I do hope you enjoyed visiting Folly Beach Have a great day.
