We had an amazing time. The food was wonderful. Only suggestions for improvement are need more comfortable mattresses in Moose lodge and the heat in Moose lodge was a little much. We tried to turn the thermostat down without success. So, just open all the window and turn your fan on when you first get there so by the time you want to sleep it will be cool enough. Also, bring your own drinking water as the mineral content is quite high from the tap and at the restaurant.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately due to the entire resort being geothermally heated, we cannot turn down one rooms heat without turning off the heating for the entire resort. We will certainly be updating both lodging and beds this year.

Great staff although no way to reach front desk by phone. Very outdated rooms (hot and stuffy) and paths outside were covered in ice. Too many lights to see the Northern Lights. However, hot springs and ice museum were cool to experience and the restaurant was delicious. Fun souvenirs and coffee/hot cocoa building.

Hot springs were nice. Kids indoor pool was not so nice. Room had one comfortable bed and one uncomfortable bed. The trim was broken off the side of the door. The paint on the windows was blistering from condensation. Plenty of deferred maintenance. And the room was too warm. The greenhouse would have been cool to see but the last tour was right at check in and you would have to stay more than one night to see it. Restaurant isn’t big enough. 30-60 minute waits to get seated. Not the most polite staff. The rest is a complete tourist trap.

Fabulous location with incredible areas to walk. Wonderful excursions right on premises ( aurora viewing, snowmobiles, dog sleds, ice museum, greenhouse, geothermal plant), fabulous food. Rooms have enough space, are clean, comfortable and nice amenities. The rooms ran a bit warm though. Nice gift shops. I strongly encourage speaking to employees and getting to know them. Their suggestions were spot on and often not well publicized things to see and do. Find the owner bernie, he’s quite a character and fun to speak to. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Hi Deborah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. Regarding the heating, we are currently geothermally heated. Because of this we are unable to change the temperature by room, instead having to have it all the way on or all the way off for the entire resort.

This place is not fancy but it’s a wonderful place to hang out and chill. The hot springs are incredible and you may catch the aurora if you are there at the right time. Get your hippie on.

The property is not intended for a stay lasting longer than a day or two at the very most. Personal transportation is necessary because of its remote location. Staff is only available in person if you need assistance. They do not answer any phone calls or respond to any emails. Do not recommend as a vacation destination.

Friendly staff, good variety of activities, nice restaurant / bar and comfortable accommodations in a remote location. The aurora activity staff were great. Outside hot springs restrictions of people under the age of 18 are not enforced. Shout out to a great bartender Decker. Ride back to Fairbanks was uncomfortably cold. Blankets were provided but provided little comfort during the 1.5 hour trip.

Hot springs are amazing, main building and restaurant very nice, but all facilities need more maintenance. Everything overpriced. Also lots of kids and families are disappointed that there is not option for kids to get into the hot springs, at least for teenagers, separated pool outside would be great, They can be quiet if they are asked to. And there is enough space to make it work.

Hello, unfortunately our decision to not allow anyone under 18 in the hot springs is based on Alaska state law. Due to the unfiltered nature of the water, the temperature, and the excess of minerals, our hot spring has been deemed potentially harmful to youths. Therefore, we cannot permit anyone unable to legally sign a waiver, per Alaska statutes. Thank you.

Really enjoyed the experience of the Hot Springs in the winter. Staff were helpful and courteous. Did not like the Ice Museum. Felt a bit pricey for what you got. Enjoyed the Geothermal Energy tour (which was free) much better. I will definitely return!

All winter activities that you want to experience Chena Hot Spring Resort have it. From Aurora chasing to Dog sledding to Snowmobile. It was perfect winter wonderland and having able to enjoy the hot spring made our vacation memorable. Oh and the appletini at the Ice Meseum is a must! The only thing is the resort has only 1 restaurant and it gets busy in the evening, though the food is good.

Chena was 10/10!! We stayed in Fairbanks a week and only two nights in Chena but wish we had stayed the full week there lol. So much to do and see. The staff there are the kindest people. We are already planning our spring trip back to Alaska and chena will absolutely be our place we go to!

Best view of the Aurora from our entire week. This is very “rustic.” Their employees all seemed to be hired within 1 year, and although very sweet, showed no sense of urgency. They don’t offer many king sized beds, and don’t expect luxury. The wait time for dinner is at least an hour. Watching the staff take 10 (not an exaggeration) minutes to clear a table can be completely frustrating. I wouldn’t have used the outhouse at the yurt for viewing for anything. My husband warned me to not even look, but apparently there was frozen urine everywhere, and another woman who dared told me it was completely filled to the brim. Bring shower shoes for the locker room at the hot springs-the floor is completely drenched by noon. And there wasn’t even a locker available one afternoon and I just had to stash my stuff on top of the lockers. I know this all sounds horrible, but if your expectations are low-you will enjoy the lights and that will make up for all of this resorts faults.

We stayed at the Hot Spring Resorts between Dec 02- Dec 09, 2023. The surrounding area looks so serene and beautiful, so you feel like you are in the wonderland. The property itself is ok, but not great, has a very few options of dining, basically one restaurant and it's getting very busy on the weekend that sometimes you would need to wait for 45 min to be sited. Everyting else was great. We did dog sledding, cross county skiing, walked with the reindeers and went on a trip to see Aurora Borealis which was spectacular. Also, I wish the cleaning staff would come at least once to clen the room too.

The hot spring and the activities are the only things worth visiting. The rooms are clean but quite dated, and the bathroom in the room I had didn't have its shower working.

Our stay in Chena was averagely Good. The tours were well organized. The staff were friendly and courteous, from the reception (Isaac), restaurant and Activity Center (Andy and co.). The food in the restaurant is delicious. Most memorable was the Aurora Viewing Tour. The guides provided free-flowing hot drinks, cookies and noodles. The Double Bed room for 4 was kind of small for us as there is less space to move around and place our things. Note that it was Hotel.com which recommended the room. But the room itself is cozy. Wished though that it had its own microwave oven.
