When we booked this property did not realize it was a self serve style with no check in or concierge staff, unless you messaged or called them. The property was spotless, room was beautiful and comfortable. Instructions provided via email were clear though one had to read the details. The welcome manual was also useful (read this and found the utensils). We will recommend this property to others for sure.

My partner and I are had travelled from Canada and it was our first time in Dunedin and New Zealand in general. We stayed in "The Loft" at The Chamberson for 3 nights and we could not have been more pleased with everything. The apartment was large and very stylish, the kitchen was fabulous, bed extremely comfortable and the location could not be beat. We would highly recommend staying at The Chamberson and if we travel back, we will definitely stay there again!!

The Loft apartment was fabulous! The car parking in the basement was the most difficult to get in or out I have ever experienced. Don't drive anything big and make sure you have someone else to help direct you first time. It is VERY tight.

Our airconditioning wasnt working not cooling. Coffee for plunger day 1 only. Resorted to instant yikes. We will stay again. It is a really nice spot and much better than distiction hotel we stayed at last week and scenic weve stayed at previously. We would have loved a gym.thanks.

This hotel has no reception. You pick up keys from a drop box and phone a number if there is a problem. Everything worked perfectly. We made two meals in the room after several weeks of hotel/restaurant food this was a treat!

Nice apartment well appointed. Arrived to find dirty dishes in dishwasher. After a poor nights sleep due to uncomfortable pillows and quilt too hot I spoke to concierge who thankfully gave us 2 new pillows and a blanket and apologised for the dishwasher issue. Easy checkin and out overall a good place to stay but hard to find parking not in metered zones.

We loved our stay at the Chamberson! The room was exactly like what you see in the pictures, it was very private and spacious. The self-check in was very easy. We paid for a car park which was definitely worth it, as there is extremely limited parking in the area. The car park is tight (which we were warned of) and there was no direct access to the hotel from the car park, which we were a bit confused about at first (we knocked on the lift and back door to the bike house accidentally! This could've been sign posted a bit better). Other than that, it was a perfect stay! We would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone wanting a convenient, luxurious stay in Dunedin.

We did not receive our check-in instructions and arrived to find no parking except in a five minute spot on the street. This is a totally unmanned establishment so we had to call somebody - who was very helpful - to get checked in and then go find - and pay for - parking as nobody had told us there wasn't any at the "hotel".

This place was spacious and comfortable. It is in a beautiful building and the location is fantastic. Restaurants, shops, cafes and transport are within walking distance. Definitely recommend.

Charming accommodation in the heart of the central city. Just needed further attention to providing hooks for hanging towels and clothes in the bathroom and perhaps one more lounge chair. We found it quite expensive for basic stay with no extras provided.

Handy position in town
The hotel was a little hard to find as the sign is very small. Check in was self service but instructions were given and clear. Hotel very convenient position in town close to shops and transport. The wardrobe was rather ridiculous as the hangers and rail were so high up it was impossible to reach, otherwise it was fine. Few crumbs under table on arrival but otherwise clean.

Beautiful apartment with everything you need for a short stay! Surprisingly quiet given the proximity to the Octagon. Easy access to both apartment and separate car parking. Comfortable bed, warm apartment. Communication very clear and precise. Easy to book, easy to stay. Only recommendations would be to ditch the thin shower head for a round one. Maybe get the cleaners to do a wee dust in those area most people don’t look. Beautiful apartment.

Great unless something goes wrong.
The hotel is, in many ways delightful. The location is right in the heart of central Dunedin, close to restaurants, shopping, and transportation. The rooms - actually small apartments — are clean, well equipped and remarkably QUIET. The downsides are: 1) our “king” bed was two twins pushed together with no topper - so a ridge/gap between the two halves of the bed 2) There is no reception staff on duty. So our non-functioning phone stayed non-functioning. The staff, reached by email, did make a call for us but the frustration and inconvenience made the stay less than ideal.

Convenient location close to Octagon, yet very quiet inside. This is probably because we had no windows, but a nice skylight above us that had an electric black out blind for night& morning. Room a little small.

Amazing host, always there when I needed them. Beautiful apartment and quiet, was not easy to find first but got the hang of it. It’s great when you have guest over as there is plenty of room.
