“Wonderful Hotel”
It was very comfortable, quiet and wonderful view. I always stay here when I am in town
“Great location and great value!”
Just had a great weekend getaway at Barker's and would highly recommend. It is a beautiful location right on the water. You could easily spend a lot of time within walking distance, enjoying the view, or renting their bikes. It was clean and comfortable. Very comparable to places I have stayed that were going for at least $50 more this weekend. Only a 10 minute drive to the canal park area, and an easy drive. Helpful, friendly staff. I will agree with the other reviewers who thought the place could use some updated decor, but it was really not that bad.
“Beautiful even in the winter”
I loved the location and the view even in the winter. Nice ambiance, lounge and pool areas. I was not happy with the cost of the room for two people. I booked for two people but when I checked in, the cost of the room was double with two people, otherwise I would have saved 50%.
“Beware - a very hard bed!”
The bed was very hard - actually had a wire digging into my back.

The hotel was very clean. The food was average. Check In time was a challenge because of a booked hotel which was understandable. the security of leaving your baggage until check-in wasn't the safest.
“Bad experience.”
Initially, it seemed like a nice place ... out away from Duluth, on an island, water nearby with nice views. Even the layout of the hotel seemed good, with a nice large pool area, & glassed-in hallways next to the poolside rooms to help knock down noise from the pool. Our room was of good size & comfortable. Then came trouble. I was there to get a good night's sleep with my family before an inline skate marathon the next morning (I had to wake up at 4:30am). Several young adults on the same hallway of our same floor decided that their open-door rooms & the hallway would work well for a boisterous party (even though a sign on the hallway door says "Hallways are quiet areas"). We got up from bed 5 times, asking them to keep quiet. They'd apologize, then be right back at it 30 minutes later. Our requests got increasingly firm, & we also made 2 calls to the front desk for help. By about 1:30am, the noise stopped, but not without big loss of sleep. Before we checked out the next day, we complained to the staff, & asked for a refund. They made note of our complaints, but said they don't intervene in such cases unless THREE calls had been made to the front desk of the problem. "Policy," they said ... yet one not made known to the guests. We followed up by phone over the next few days. Ultimately, a manager made sure we received a refund, which is the only reason the "overall satisfaction" question received a 2. Be advised - staying here could mean loss of sleep!
“Not impressed”
Stated that it was a lakeview room and I couldn't really see any water from my room. Old rooms. Heater didn't work (was fixed by staff shortly after).
