We stayed in a three bedroom chalet that was very well appointed, clean, comfortable and homey. Management staff were very help with local dining and activity tips and suggestions. They even offer loaner mini-shovels for hot water beach excavations! When returning to the chalet in the late afternoon the interior was very hot as is probably expected summer without any a/c. However without any screens on the windows or sliding doors it was difficult to air without inviting bugs into the home. Our solution was to just return home later in the evening.

Thanks for your lovely review and it's great to hear your cottage was clean and comfortable.Yes it was a hot summer this year, while we don't have A/C we do have fans in each cottage and often shade from the trees. We can get a few visits from nature inside as we are in a rural area, but do not tend to have a problem with mosquitos. But we very much appreciate your feedback about this and will consider it further.

This is a beautiful property in a great position close to the beach. The accommodation has everything you need and is in great condition. The grounds are gardens are also very well maintained.

Relaxed hideaway
A wonderful place to unwind. Fully equipped room in a beautifully landscaped gardens. Close to the ferry landing for visits to whitianga. Across the road is a lovely walk thru the bush to Lonely Bay. Highly recommend this accommodation.

Great location, great property!
Great location. Convenient to ferry and Hot Water Beach. So quiet at night and you can see lots of stars.

Accommodation and surroundings gardens was excellent, best we have stay at. Only downside was main seating in lounge area, 2 wicker seats, these were very uncomfortable.

Top Notch Fab get Away
Came here on a whim, want to stay forever. These units are so well appointed, spotless, current, just top notch. We run 2 vacation rentals in Santa Barbara and all I can say there isn't one thing I need. spot on amazing. I want to come back next year for a month!

Beautiful location and wonderfully laid out - Flaxmill was everything you could ask of a holiday park. Our cabin was a good size, landscaped so that it was quiet and private but enjoying the proximity to all the facilities that you could require.

Just lovely
One of our favorite places that we stayed on our New Zealand trip. The 3 bedroom house was the perfect layout for our family of four. Very comfortable, updated and had everything we needed. The garden view was lovely and being able to open all the sliders was so nice. Very convenient to walk to Shakespeare Cliff and beautifully Lonely Bay and short drive to stunning Cathedral Cove. We did make the mistake of trying to go out for a late dinner to find everything closed the first night, so bought groceries to cook in the second night and ate out on the patio and listened to the birds. If you want night life, this isn’t the place for you, but for a tranquil place in a modern yet comfortable cottagey place that’s convenient to great hikes, it’s perfect. Would definitely go back.
