The reviews are true on the cleanliness of this place. Really makes a person question how much cleaning they do. They say they are renovating now and i hope they improve in the future. No live bugs were found during our stay, but one dead cockroach was found. (Not going to upset this hillbilly family much lol. It was dead and only one.) But the cleanliness in general is just poor. Absolutely amazing customer service! The lady who checked us in was an incredibly nice woman! Thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality! For being a cheaper place to stay, a person cant complain too much, but i really dont see why they couldnt clean some more. And yes, it smelled some. I will not defend by saying it wasnt that bad, but some reviews are a little harsh and over exaggerated. I dont know, maybe its just because i live in the country where I'm upwind of 3 hogbarns, but it didnt bother me that bad. Plus you are allowed to smoke in this place, so yeah no room for anyone to complain about smoke smells. Was happy i had a place my aunt could smoke inside! Thanks suburban suites for the stay and i wish you luck with your improvements!

Do not use this hotel.
Terrible experience. We arrived at the hotel and the desk was unmanned and the window gate closed, despite a sign saying 24 hour service. We could not get anyone to answer the phone until several tries, at which point an annoyed and clearly recently asleep rude woman answered and said she would come down but never did. We were unable to check in and had to find another hotel. Now I have to fight for a refund. By the way, the grounds and lobby were dirty and appeared unsafe. Do not stay at this hotel.

When checking in, there were 3 people at the desk. They were playing around and it took over 20 minutes to get checked in. There were no curtains over the window. No cups. I could not be moved to a different room because they were over booked. I had several friends that had booked a room for the same night as I did, Sept. 8th, 2023. That were turned away because "the hotel was over booked" luckily they were able to find rooms at the Windgate. I have stayed at the Suburban several times over the last 20 years so I cannot express to you how disappointed I was with this visit

They were in the middle of renovations. The front desk lady was nice, but the room only had one towel, no wash clothes and no hand towels. I went to get more, snd the front desk was closed. We saw roaches, after we settled in the room, the floors had some greasy feel to them, the tub was not clean. The beds had clean sheets and were made, but the pillow was lumpy.

Dump, no room reserved on arrival.
Reserved a room on Hotels.com and upon arrival was informed I HAD no room. Hotel is under renovation and have very limited amount of rooms. Mngmnt claimed Hotels.com was notified of this fact numerous times. Blessing in disguise really: schetchy place, diveish. Dirty. Nefarious looking characters roaming around the facility. Had to drive around looking for accommodations. Steer clear of the dump.

I had driven over 600 miles to Columbia to be told I couldn’t be accommodated. I suspect the room was sold to the highest bidder due there was a major college game being played in town that night (GA vs MO). Had to drive more than another hour to find accommodations. The reservation was one of pay upon arrival deals. I deserve some type of consolation for this debacle. I’m almost 75 yo and I had just driven this route which is close to a 1,000 miles a couple weeks before. This trip was under emergency circumstances, relative death due to Covid. The.hotels excuse was they had a flood in the basement, Sure, a flood of fb fans willing to pay more for that reservation.

This is a "transient" hotel - NOT a place to stay for parents weekend @ Mizzou. The whole place is run down, dirty and smells of cigarette smoke. Felt unsafe.

We drove up to this property and there was no sign, there were people roaming the parking lot and it looked like it was subsidized housing. An unsafe place to stay and we chose to leave rather than go inside.

I will NEVER book at this hotel or any other extended stay. I booked 3wks ahead and 30 min. before check-in they called me and said I did not have a room with them because other people decided not to leave. They gave me the name of other near by hotels that they had spoke with and had room. I called them and they knew nothing about this and had no rooms.

This is very misleading. Really false advertising. The pictures you show are of what was a Country Inn Suites before it was purchase by a second party. This is actually not a hotel but lodging for full time residents. The room I was given was trashed. Screen broken and window open when I entered. The room was damaged in many places. I had a one very small pillow, the size of a basketball and as hard as one. I requested another pillow and after waiting 1 1/2 hours they did not have one. I never moved into the room. I pay an extra fee for my dog. I wanted to check out as I could not stay in the room. I was told that they do not return room fees. I left and have not received a refund. I have pictures and will be sending them. I am also in contact with my credit card company.

First I want to say that the Lady working the front desk was extremely nice. I got to my room and there was 2 wads of spit in the kitchen area sink. One was blood filled. The lady from the front desk came with me to see it and cleaned it up. Then I noticed the bed was not clean and had hair and dirt in it. The front desk lady got me a different room. It was cleaner but still smelled like animal. The shower did not drain. It was not the worst place I have ever stayed, (boy that is a doozy) but I believed it could have been better considering it is a Choice Hotel.

We arrived at 7PM and were told our room had been given up and reserved for someone else because we weren't there by 6PM. The website says check-in is between 3 - 10PM. After finding another hotel with availability we noticed Extended Stay charged us for one night's stay. We called the hotel 4 times and were always told we would get a call back but never did. We had to contact the corporate office because no one at the local hotel would reply. Because the corporate office was very professional and did their job, we finally received a refund for the night we were charged as "no-shows" 8 days later. It was bad enough that they reserved our room out from underneath us, but when we learned they said we were no-shows we realized what kind of place this is. Although Choice Hotels corporate was great, we do not recommend staying at this local franchise.

Do NOT stay at this property!!!! The one redeeming characteristic is that the people are very nice. But the facility is a dump. First off, there was no AC in the lobby as we were checking in (which took 40 minutes for some reason). The elevator was broken. Then, I got to my room. The place was filthy. There was a hole in the bathroom door that looked like someone kicked it. The toilet seat was broken. The remote control didn’t work on either of the TVs and there was only one coaxial cable on the one in the living room. The bedroom TV wasn’t connected to anything. There was one thin blanket on the bed and the pillows were brutally uncomfortable. The sink faucet wouldn’t turn off after turning it on. The AC unit was broken and the facing kept falling off. Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I actually moved to another hotel at midnight because it was so bad. And to add to the overall miserable experience, they refused to refund my payment for the night I didn’t stay. Miserable experience. DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE!!!!

This propriety is terrible! The woman at the front desk was nice. She mentioned that most people live here for months. There was a shirtless man digging thru the trash in the front when we arrived. Our room was horrible! I don’t think it was meant to be rented. There was no shower curtain, the soap dish that was supposed to be on the shower wall was sitting in the tub, mildew and baseboards pulled away from wall, fire alarm with battery pulled out and when we tried to shower in the morning there was no hot water! We let it run for 10 minutes and never got hot. We didn’t want to leave the room or call anyone to come up because it didn’t feel safe. We just wanted to survive the night. We had prepaid, but we should have cut our losses and tried to find something else. It was late at night and before a football game so we didn’t think we’d find anything.
