Excellent walkable location
Place is very conveniently located to both the Buquebus ferry terminal and the old town. Less than a 10 minute walk to each. They honoured my room request to be on a higher floor and the included breakfast was simple but nice (hard boiled eggs, croissants, toast, jam/marmelade/dulce de leche, slices of ham and cheese, orange juice, coffee with hot milk, sliced canned peaches, cereal and milk). The air conditioning worked well in the room and no major issues with the wifi.

The room is noisy you are able to listen all from the bathroom upstair. The breakfast is very basic.

The receptionist who welcomed us was very friendly and helpful. Large room. Good quality toiletries. Very good location close to all main attractions, bus and ferry. Some staff were not very approachable. Sheets were washed but could look cleaner, as could the room curtains. Water kept turning off on two days of the stay. Breakfast was simple, but included in the price; however, the quantity was the same for single people as couples, meaning sharing three pieces of meat and croissants. No spaces to put luggage, except the floor.

Good value and excellent location. Simple continental breakfast. Located just behind the edge of the city center with plenty of Restaraunt nearby. Room is basic and limited amenities.

What I liked was that it met our needs perfectly (quite location and well suited for spending time at the old town of Colonia). Also liked that the staff were very helpful and the facility was rather quaint. There was nothing that I disliked really.

Posada el viajero was one of the nicest places I have stayed. For the price, you get a cozy, clean comfortable room in a charming building with friendly staff. It is a great location: 10 minutes walking from the bus station, the port or the Ciudad Vieja. Highly recommended

Close to bus terminal and port
Very good location to Port and bus terminal. Walking distance so you don't need a taxi once you get off the boat or bus. Short stroll to main street and attractions. Simple room, sufficient for one night stay.

Posada El Viajero met my accommodation needs, but exceeded my expectations with their staff. The welcome was inviting, and the staff was always willing to assist me with questions regarding services in town or recommendations around the area. Thanks for a great experience!

Great service and location
Posada el Viajero is less than a 10 minute walk from the ferry terminal and is just outside the historic quarter. Service was very good with a speedy check in which included being offered a cold glass of water or a hot day. I was shown to my room which was very comfortable and exactly as described. My one negative for the hotel is ,that there are no window screens, so thankfully I had brought mosquito repellent. Breakfast we good and included the usual and also has warm scrambled eggs available. I highly recommend Posada El Viajero if you plan to visit Colonia.

Great staff and a great location. The decor is a little run down in places and it's a little noisy on the ground floor, but a good budget option in Colonia.

No water!
We didn't have any water at the hotel. First, they said it was a problem of the entire town... Then the staff recognized it was only the neighborhood and probably only the hotel. They didn't look for any answer or way of sorting it out besides saying they had already called the company. Later, they said the problem had happened even the morning before (no wonder if the days before that also). Besides that Humid and outdated rooms, poor breakfast. A pity, since they are perfectly located. Must work to be the best pick in town again, as lonely planet says they are.

Good, basic hostel for a quick stay
This was a good place to stay- is more of a hostel but we still got private bathroom do it worked for us. Window opened right onto courtyard so was not very private but ok for a one nice stay. Staff was great and was a quick walk to both the ferry and the old town.

Excellent Budget Inn
The room and entire property were extremely clean, safe and inviting. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful (and spoke English). They patiently and cheerfully answered all my touristy questions. The room had everything I needed -- a comfortable bed, hot water, extra blankets, a great view, a wall safe and cable TV (which I didn't use). The property is located across the street from the river/ocean and a very short walk from both the beautiful old town and the regular downtown. Breakfast (pastries, toast, jelly, cheese, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee) was totally fine and was served in a quaint and clean reception/dining area. People say Colonia becomes boring after a day or two, but I disagree. I was there five days and could have easily stayed another five.

Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Altstadt, Nähe Bus- und Fährterminal. Personal ist freundlich, spricht aber wenig bis garnicht englisch. Ich hatte ein Problem mit der Toilettenspülung. Nach der zweiten Info bekam ich aber sofort ein besseres Zimmer. Frühstück ist okay. Die Handtücher und Bettwäsche riechen nicht gut.

Super cómodo, agradable y buen descanso. Personal sumamnete amable, muy acogedor el lugar, con frases lindas en la recepción. Solo verificar toallas ya que algunas ya son nuy viejitas y colocar un espacio largo siempre se agradece en la hanitación. Excelente ubicación.
