Beautifully appointed historic home with gorgeous view of the lake
We visited in April for the eclipse and were so fortunate to find this gem of a place. There are many inviting spots for friends and family to gather and relax, and the views from the living/dining/porch areas and the primary bedroom are incredible. The furnishings are comfortable and attractive. Photos can’t really capture how nice it is. The kitchen was thoughtfully renovated and has everything you might need to prepare meals. Steps to the second floor are quite steep but there is a handrail and treads to prevent slipping. It was nice that the house has one bedroom (and a powder room) on the first floor. We enjoyed reading about the history of the house. The driveway is shared with the house next door but that was not a problem at all.

Family weekend With the Grandbabies
This beautiful cottage was just what my family needed for a weekend getaway. The view of Lake Erie, the family of deer that showed up out of nowhere, and the setup of the house were more than we expected. My grandkids were so excited every day we were there. The games for the littles were a bonus. We will book this spot again as long as they live in OH. The host was super responsive and even let me know as soon as it was discovered the kid's toothbrushes were left. You will not be sorry to rent this little piece of heaven on your next visit to the area.

The pictures don't do this getaway justice. This is a beautiful place from the interior decor and the exterior unobstructed lake view. It was relaxing and inviting. My sisters and I, along with our mother, celebrated my birthday as well as needing a getaway as we mourned the year anniversary of our brother's death. It was just what we needed. Thank you Bill

I’d give 6 stars if I could
The Gull cottage was perfect for what we wanted for a local weekend get-away. It feels like a lake house in all good ways! Clean, well appointed and has a lot of character. The weather was perfect so we enjoyed the water, grill, lounge chairs and outdoor dining. The sunsets were spectacular and the house is perfectly situated for viewing. I highly recommend this home. The checkout was easy for a VRBO which we highly appreciated. I give this property 6 stars!!

I rented the property for my family and two siblings to have a relaxing and comfortable base while in the area to celebrate our mothers 100th Heavenly Birthday. The house was as beautiful as it was relaxing and comfortable. My oldest daughter fell in love with the rear patio and yard. The lake view was beyond amazing and the only regret I have about our stay is that I wish I had taken more pictures.

Family Time
Gull Cottage was simply beautiful and so very homey feeling. The weather was not so nice but this home has everything you need to stay in and enjoy the amazing views of Lake Erie (which was resembling the ocean while we were there lol)! Our family gathering was perfect because of the peace and serenity of this home/location and the property owners were extremely helpful. We were pleasantly surprised to see so many of the things that were usable to us including crockpot, waffle, iron, coffee, maker, toaster, etc. Gull Cottage definitely deserves a five star rating!

My wedding
My husband and I got married on Feb 4, 2023. His 6 family members stayed at Gull Cottage. We were also married there in a very small wedding. The cottage is immaculate and beautiful. The lake views are breath-taking. The house is tastefully appointed. Everything is in working order. The owner and his wife were welcoming and very easy to interact with. It is obvious that they care deeply about providing guests with an excellent experience. They also took great pains to update and maintain this lovely home. We treated Gull Cottage as if it was our own. We left it in the same condition in which we found it. We would feel privileged to be able to return to Gull Cottage again. Great rental!
We had a lovely time at Gull Cottage! The property was beautiful and it was very close to our family in the greater Cleveland area. Everything we needed for our extended stay was provided. The only thing I would mention is that the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms and showers are quite narrow, steep and can be a bit slippery when wearing socks. :) So, be careful! Overall, we have zero complaints and would definitely stay here again! Thank you so much for having us!

Cozy house for winter family gathering
We had a wonderful long weekend as we gathered for our son's graduation. The home is fully updated. Lots of good space to hang out together. We enjoyed watching Lake Erie start its winter journey from the comfort of the warm enclosed porch. The host Bill was immediately responsive to my questions and a great help through the weekend. Perfect home with exceptional Lake Erie views
This was a home where everything was just right. It was immaculate, had a wonderful and functional kitchen, and comfortable bedrooms. Best of all, it featured marvelous Law Erie views. The sunsets were especially marvelous. Owners were very responsive and it is also close to a grocery store and restaurants.

First, the pictures posted of this rental DO NOT do it justice!!! It was so much better than we could’ve hoped for. I got a phone call from the owner hours before our check-in time saying it was ready early for us. If we needed anything, the owner responded within minutes via text. There were little individual spaces throughout the house for family members to sit separately or play games. The instruction binder had very clear instructions for the house and a ton of activities to do in the area. This lake house was picture perfect and we enjoyed every minute there and would highly recommend to anyone considering staying in the area.

Beautiful house with spectacular views of Lake Erie
We loved this house! The house is located on a quiet, well-maintained street, and includes a spacious garage (which made packing on a rainy day much more pleasant.) The house has been beautifully decorated and is spotlessly clean. The kitchen is modern and spacious, and there are numerous spots, both inside and outside the house, from which to relax and enjoy the view of Lake Erie. The gazebo was a perfect place for pre-dinner drinks while watching the sun set over the lake. We even spotted a bald eagle one evening. There is also a huge flowering bush next to the front door that attracts a multitude of monarch and swallowtail butterflies. But what we really loved about this house was all of the special touches and amenities provided by the hosts. These included towels by the front door to wipe our dog's wet paws, nice furniture covers so we didn't have to worry about keeping our dog off the couches, a great selection of games, puzzles and books, good quality hangers in the closets, a set of umbrellas for rainy weather, and plentiful dish ware in the kitchen. The hosts had clearly put a great deal of thought into these, and the overall effect was to make us feel quite welcome. We already miss the views of Lake Erie!

We had a great time connecting with another family in this beautiful house. Bill is extremely courteous and prompt and provided us all guidance and answers promptly. The house is tastefully decorated and there’s plenty of room that you don’t step on each other’s toes. There is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the gorgeous view and the several birds in the backyard! Please be mindful of the neighbors’ properties especially if you have little kids. There are also lovely little beaches nearby. It was a wonderful getaway. Thanks Bill!

No hesitation to come back and to recommend
We truly enjoyed the property and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Lots of reviews mentioned how clean the property was. They were right. Hands down the cleanest rental we’ve ever stayed in. William was easy to contact and very accommodating. The location is great. Easy to get to and it has a great view of the lake. The stone stairs going down to the water provide a nice area to sit and relax. There is no “beach” like area on the shoreline at this property, but you are really close to some very nice beach/park areas. So, that really isn’t an issue. A fire pit would be a nice addition and the mattress in the large upstairs bedroom could use an upgrade. However, I wouldn’t hesitate even one second to book another stay tomorrow. Loved the place. The house has great charm and is well stocked. It is clean, clean, clean…even the basement laundry area was clean. Helpful owner. Awesome lakefront views. You won’t go wrong renting this place.

This home on the waterfront is beautiful! Although the weather did not work out in our favor, we were able to enjoy ourselves playing cards in the back room with beautiful views of the lake. The beds were comfy, and they thought of everything we might need….right down to the hand mixer needed to make my lemon meringue pie! Will definitely book this house again in the warmer months. Communication with owner was immediate and professional.

NYE stay at GullCottage
Our hiking group stayed for 2 nights over NYE 2022 to reunite and do some hiking. House was spectacular with lakeside views from several rooms of the house. Really enjoyed the enclosed porch that was even heated. Decorated very tastefully and well thought out. Would rent again.

A Relaxing Escape by the Lake
Beautiful views, a lovely home that has everything you need (and super clean), and close to kayaking, biking and beach. There is also a great ice cream shop down the street. The sunsets were amazing! The renovation of the 1905 home with lighthouse was beautifully done. We will be back. Kids enjoyed roller skating on the driveway and playing croquet in the backyard. Next time I plan to bring a life jacket for our little dog so she can join us kayaking.

Laurie and her family were the best!! Very firendly, and she asked before bringing her dog - and he was great! Never disturbed the neighbors, and could not tell he was ever in the house. They left the house cleaner than any guest has. Thank you Laurie!!

Glorious Lake Views at a Classy Cottage
The adage location, location, location applies to Gull Cottage. Situated on a bluff overlooking Lake Erie in the heart of a residential neighborhood, this is an ideal location for folks who want to enjoy spectacular sunsets in a relaxing environment. Truth-be-told, this was the most expensive VRBO we have ever stayed at. You are paying for the amazing views you have of the lake--from almost every room of the cottage--and if you "pool your resources"--in our case, we had our adult children to help underwrite the cost--it's worth every penny. The photos of the cottage are spot on. The owners have meticulously restored the cottage, including beautiful bath fixtures, lighting, walk-in closets and a great kitchen. If you love to cook, make sure you bring appropriate supplies (ranging from spices to cooking oils to basic condiments) because those are not part of the amenities. DItto dishwashing detergent--we were provided with 2 tablets (for a week long stay). Be specific about the number of guests because while bath towels are provided, they set out the number of towels to correlate with how many guests you've reserved for. Fortunately for us we brought extra towels (including beach towels). Speaking of beaches--there's a state park (Headlands Beach State Park) a few miles up the road that even has handicap access, rest rooms, etc. and plenty of waterfront. The owners even provide some high quality beach chairs for renters. Because the cottage is in a residential neighborhood there are plenty of grocery stores within a reasonable distance of the cottage. Don't miss out stopping at Biggie's Custard--a local favorite! We ended up making a daily ritual out of popping over there for awesome ice cream treats. The owners are very helpful and quite responsive if you have any questions or concerns. We were having difficulty getting the outdoor grill to work--and within 15 minutes of sending a message, they had us set up. 😃 All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay. You can dine indoors at a beautiful dining table; sit on the glass-enclosed porch at a table or comfy sofa-- or dine outside on the deck! Better still, go out to the gazebo where you can truly enjoy the wind and the waves and all the waterbirds. There's plenty of indoor seating in case of inclement weather--places for folks to spread out and read, or do puzzles or play games. Be sure to play croquet or horseshoes or relax on one of the deck chairs! Two thumbs up for Gull Cottage! 👍👍

Lovely place for a family gathering
Our family group from several states chose this home based on its central location and it did not disappoint. The house is spacious with spectacular views, especially at sunset over the lake. There are several seating areas inside and out for conversations. The hosts provided many nice amenities including wireless phone chargers in several rooms and access to the 3 car garage. The kitchen was well-equipped although the only coffeemaker is a Keurig which was a challenge for a large group. This is an updated older house, and our light sleeper noted that the walls are rather thin. The two showers are both upstairs, and the stairway is a bit steep and narrow, so those with limited mobility may have some difficulty. Overall, though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay there again in the future.

Lovely views and super clean house!
The house sits up on a gorgeous bluff overlooking Lake Erie. There are views out of almost every window. The house is well-equipped and the cleanest we’ve ever rented! There is even a croquet and horse shoe set in the garage which we enjoyed. The neighbors were kind and welcoming. The neighborhood is sweet. The only thing to note is that the tower in the pictures is off-limits and roped off and locked. My kids were disappointed about that... everything else was as expected.
