The Lafayette is both a well-preserved and maintained historical property and high-quality restaurant. Having both of these things in one place is fantastic. My husband and I stayed overnight (celebrating our anniversary), ate dinner at the restaurant and then had breakfast there too (included in the cost of our room). It was so convenient to eat at the best restaurant in town and then head to our room…in the same building. I don’t believe I’ve ever stayed anywhere before where a high-quality, cooked-to-order sit-down restaurant breakfast was included complimentarily with the (very reasonable) cost of the room, but that was the case here. In addition to the accommodations and food being excellent, so was the service—everyone we met was so pleasant. Our server at the restaurant during dinner was particularly friendly (and very attentive).
On top of it all, the inn is conventionally located close to the Shenandoah National Forest and a huge number of wineries. It’s a perfect weekend getaway and the surrounding countryside is gorgeous. Our room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. Would recommend for sure.
