The building was beautiful inside. I loved all the exposed beams and brick. At the time we stayed, the building was being renovated. They promised construction would only occur from 8:30am to 5:30pm but continued until at least 9pm. The rooms were nice but very well used to the point of being unusable. I was also disappointed in the amount of dust on the light fixtures and in other places. Overall, I enjoyed the hotel but felt like it needed some TLC.

The staff was terrific but the facility is still undergoing extensive reconstruction and needs more - we had a leaking ceiling one night. Breakfast and wine and cheese were also nice despite the small undergoing construction lobby area. There is no daily housekeeping but staff were kind enough to supply extra towels and coffee supplies. We had a large, clean suite but the drip from the leak was disconcerting and although it was fixed no explanation or recompensation were offered. I would wait until construction completed before staying again.

The entire first floor of the Inn is under construction, so there was a good bit of noise during the day, but it wasn't a problem since most people are out enjoying Charleston by day. All was quiet at night. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated.

Excellent stay, location is perfect, walkable to historic Charleston and all its attractions. Wine and cheese in the lobby at the end of the day is greatly appreciated. There are renovations being done off the lobby. Can’t wait to go back and see it when it’s finished.

We loved this hotel so opulent in charlestons unique style. One of the biggest and best hotel rooms we have ever booked. Great value ! Yes hotel was still going through renovations but it didnt affect our stay. Great location walking distance to the town and port. We would def book again on our next visit to charleston.

The staff is amazing and the property is lovely with a lot of character. The major construction is a retraction to the quality of the stay. Wish we had known in advance. Lovely touch though to serve wine and cheese. I would return.

Extensive building work going on in the lobby with the constant noise of drilling and hammering. I literally could not hear what the receptionist was saying to be as I complained at check out due to the noise from the builders. And that was at 10am Sunday morning. Felt tricked as their website should be warning of major disruption due to building works!! They are also one of these hotels who won’t service your room unless you ask for it. We asked for it when we checked in and it still was not cleaned for us !!

Beautiful historic hotel!
Great place to stay for our first visit to Charleston. Although this property is currently undergoing renovations it had very little effect on our stay. Our room was clean, spacious, comfortable & quiet. It looked like you would imagine old Charleston to look. We hope they keep this character. If you see Johnni, smile & say “Hi!” She is the best and will make you feel right at home.

Our stay at Andonborough was fantastic! The lobby is under renovation so breakfast was moved to a room adjacent to the lobby and was very good. The rooms are scheduled for renovation over the next few months and the age of the building does lend a slightly musty smell entering the room but it was not noticeable once out of the doorway.

Staff was friendly and location was very convenient for exploring historic Charleston, but these were really the only positives of this experience. We chose this property for a family Christmas trip based on a quaint inn experience and ambiance. Upon arrival, we realized the property was undergoing renovation for which we received no advance notification or communication that property amenities were not available or majorly limited. Had we known, we would have chosen a different property. As part of construction, the floors had carpet strips taped down over hardwood & were a tripping hazard. There were tarps hung throughout reception area. The complimentary continental breakfast & social hour had been moved into a very small room that barely fit 3 tables. The pub was closed. Access to the front door was obstructed during the day w construction activity. Parking spaces were reduced due to construction vehicles & pods occupying half of the lot. Hotel room was spacious but very musty. Our room was proactively upgraded. Although appreciated, this did not accommodate for the fact that most of the inn was closed to guests. Nearly all amenities outlined in our confirmation email were unavailable. The hotel manager waived the nightly parking fee of $25, which was kind but insignificant given the situation. The property GM refused to make any adjustment to our room rate, had no interest to address the situation in any meaningful way. Her arrogance regarding the issue was insulting.
