Great location, especially if you want to be in downtown Chapel Hill. Steps away from the hotel are a number of excellent restaurants. Lantern, Elaine's and the Mediterranean Deli with its fabulous side dishes. Fit and finish of the rooms was first rate and a better than expected breakfast is included in the room rate. Overall, a very good experience.

Everything about this hotel was first class - from the pleasant welcome of the staff to the overall initial impact of the lobby with its recent upgrades. Room and amenities were excellent, as was the price for our overnight stay. We travelled with our dog and he was treated as a most welcome guest.
In all, it was a first class acommodation.
We were pleased with the hotel. The 1663 restaurant was excellent and service and cleanliness were great. For some reason we got a handicap room. It was fine for us but I think someone with a disability would have a hard time in it. The curtain wall used the plastic sticks to open the very heavy curtains and the sticks had broken off so even I at 5'6" could barely reach them. The bedside lights were controlled by a wall switch at the door so you had to get out of bed to turn on or off and the space between the end of the beds and the furniture would be hard to navigate a wheelchair through. And the disability rooms were at the end of a long carpeted hall and not close to the elevator.
Beautiful grounds and hotel!
Was a little worried before we got there because it seemed very far away from campus. Took a while to get there to check in because of game day traffic, but later that evening it was only 6 minutes from our daughter's house and the event we were attending.
Hotel staff was lovely. The guest pantry on our floor was stocked with various cokes, juices, water in the fridge - Dove bars and Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia individual cups in the freezer. Such a welcome and nice touch!
One complaint...the bed. Most uncomfortable in recent memory. Admittedly, dear husband is a bit of a "princess & the pea" when it comes to sleep aways, but even I had trouble staying asleep - and even staying on my own side of the bed. It was like the bed was almost folded a little to keep us stuck in the middle.
