Madeline was the worst guest I had in 4 years of hosting and the only one I ever canceled and had to remove during her stay. I offered to come fix what was wrong but she told me no. She wrote me nasty messages and then tried to get a discount. Instead of being blackmailed into a discount I told her she could cancel and I would refund the remainder of her stay, I contacted VRBO on how to handle this guest and they supported me in canceling her reservation mid stay which I have never had to do before. I hope never to do again. I provided proof that this is a very clean house As you see by other reviews and had VRBO read her messages to me. VRBO saw through her lies and backed me up saying asking her to leave was the right thing to do in this case.

Linda and her family were great guests. I am excited to have them back next year.

These are guests I do not recommend to other hosts. The towel by the door was clean not dirty and there for guests to use for mud or dirt since the house is in the mountains this can be a problem with snow and rain. Many guests will use this especially when they bring their dogs. I explained this to Darlene. The flip flops are sanitized between guests and there for people to use if they need to run out to their car or take their pet out. I suggested to her she could just put them in the closet since looking at them bothered her. It was not mandatory that she use them. They are very handy for people to use on the gravel driveway instead of putting on your shoes. The door mat probably got a few strands of grass on it when they walked into the house. It’s a door mat it’s Job is to keep dirt out of the house. It was cleaned before they came. I told her she could put the door mat on the other side of the door if it bothered right inside the door. Darlene moved around air conditioning units out of the closets. They got into storage closets that were not there for guests to use. And also complained about the potting bench that had tools and some other maintenance equipment on it for the backyard. They had a hard time accessing the information sent to them by VRBO. Over all they left the house in pretty good condition but I had to find items and return them back to their original place which added cleaning time.

Jeannie stayed one night,. They did leave the house in good condition and followed the rules. It was suggested to her that she and her family chose a house in the city. She did not seem to understand About a house in the forest/ mountains is not the same as the city. This also gives me a good opportunity to let people know I don’t use pesticides or chemicals on my property. I feel this is the safest for the families that I’m trusted with. The house is heated with propaine which can give off a slight Oder from tkme to time.

Jamie was a wonderful guest. I enjoyed my interaction with her and would recommend her as a guest.

This review took me by surprise. I do not enjoy writing responses like this but feel due to the nature of this review I am left no choice. Honestly its a great opportunity for me to brag about the wonderful neighborhood that surounds Tewas. Vicki decided to write this review 6 months after her stay. Not once sharing any of these concerns with me. As an owner if someone has a problem and never tells me about it I can not fix it. Through VRBO there are ways to provide an owner with pictures Vicki has not done so. There is only 2 maybe 3 guests that I have told VRBO I will not host again and Vicki was one of them. Vicki was a problem before she even checked in. She was overdue on her payments to rent the house. VRBO delayed access to her until she completed her payments. Then she wanted to be refunded for two days of her stay due to having access to what sounds like a house they were moving into because there things arrived early. She was not happy that I would not refund her the money. 10:45PM is a little late to ask for a refund for the night. All food is removed from the fridge due to covid safe practices there was nothing left behind from the prior guests. I work in healthcare and am very careful and everything is sanitized before each guest. I check the house or do it myself each time to make sure it does correctly. If the kitchen was dirty and the place smelled like wet dog why wait 6 months to mention it? Due to Covid safe practice a strong sanitizer is used. Not everyone likes that smell but it is in compliance with the standards set out by the state of New Mexico. Due to the chemical smell of these cleaners I have started providing a plugin for people to use if they chose. Vicki communicated one concern with me during her stay and that was she had a problem accessing the wifi when she first arrived and we were able to quickly solve that problem. After that she was thankful and indicated everything was good. Yes the kitchen has the original tile you can see it in the pictures. Vicki states there is broken and cheap furniture. If something was broken Vicki did not notify me or give me an opportunity to fix or replace it during her stay. I did not find broken furniture after she left. The furniture is as pictured most purchased at Ashley home Store. The house is down from the road and you cant even see the neighbors yards from the house. Vicki made a lot of assumptions about the neighborhood based on what she thought she saw. The good thing is it gives me the opportunity to share how wonderful they are. Yes this is an older neighborhood most have lived here for years I have known many of them for 20 or more years we are family. When my husband died guess who rallied to help me. These same people . They may not have perfectly groomed yards but this is a community of wonderful people. I live in an HOA in Albuquerque perfect yards guess where there is more crime. Yup had my bike stolen and peoples cars are stolen. I have owned this house for over 20 years never any problems with crime. People say hi to you when you walk down the road, watch each others back everyone is family. I don't live there any more but they still have my back. Several of them have my number. I have even come across my neighbors pointing my guests in the right direction to get to the house or helping them navigate the roads when its winter. My late husband was a Doctor and he loved the neighborhood. its got character. This is a place with big hearts and the "old town" community. This is a very special magical street were everyone is family. I could only wish to have that at my house in Albuquerque. As far as loud obnoxious drunk neighbors. I have never had anyone complain about this. To first find out about this on a public review. I don't understand if there truly was a problem where you are scared why would you not contact the owner? I will say not one of my other guests in 3 years hosting has let me know about problem drunk neighbors and in addition nor has my full time renter and she is there all the time and likes things quiet. I will also take this opportunity to share a little about my personal experience. My husband was a doctor he was not low income and he loved this neighborhood felt safe. He had this house built its very special to me. He died 12 years ago I lived in this house for 4 years by myself with a new born baby and a two year old. I bring my children up and we love to stay when the house isnt occupied. As a single woman with children I feel 100% safe. IF the road was muddy that was because it rained. Weather is something I have no control over. To address the last concern that Vicki brought up. Im not sure why someone would block the driveway, its never happened but if she is worried about this maybe others do too. The yard is not fenced so guests can access two different roads through the yard. So there are multiply exits. This property is much safer then my house in the city of Albuquerque. I love my guests and very thankful for the great experience I have had as a host.
