Now That I Know...
Once we found then hotel, it turned out to be very nice. The parking garage was a block away and the elevator stops running at 2pm (right at the beginning of check-in.) So (in our case) we had to carry very heavy luggage down four flights of stairs. Not convenient at all. But since the hotel is not related to the garage, not sure if I can rate accurately. The room was nice, bright and clean, and faced the river: which was good and bad. During the day we had a nice view of the windmill, but at night, the river bank is a hang-out and can get noisy until 2am. We asked the hotel if they can do anything about that, and since it was not on their property (like the garage) they had no control over it. So - the hotel was nice and good location (5 minute walk into central old-town) but the ancillary small things became frustrating. Would I stay here again: yes, but ask for a room NOT facing the river. (PS - Good breakfast!)

Okay for a night
While the lobby of the hotel is really modern and updated, the rooms are not. The headboard was all but destroyed and the carpets stained. Definitely in need of an upgrade. Location is excellent though. Close to the train station and walking distance to some great sites in the city. Staff at the reception were friendly. It was fine and fairly inexpensive to stay one night while transiting to our next location via train.

Es haette schoen sein koennen...
Eigentlich ein schoenes Hotel in zentraler und schoener Lage zur Altstadt.... Leider hat der Zustand der Zimmer den Aufenthalt vermiest: Wir bekamen ein Zimmer zugewiesen, das einen sehr schoenen Ausblick (See) hatte, das bei naeherer Betrachtung jedoch in einem inakzeptablen Zustand war. Insbesondere der Teppichboden war "geziert" von langjaehriger Nutzung, Verschuettete Getraenke und "sonstige" Flecken. Der Verdunkelungsvorhang war ebenfalls uebersaet von undefinierbaren Spritzern. Eine Reklamation wurde von der (teflon-empathischen) Rezeptionsdame mit dem Angebot eines Wechsels in einen anderen Raum beantwortet. Leider war der Zustand insbesondere des Teppichbodens nicht nennswert anders: Flecken in anderer Form und Groesse an anderen Stellen..... auch dieser Raum wurde reklamiert und wir haben angeboten, gegen Zuzahlung einen besseren Raum einer hoeheren Kategorie zu buchen, solange dieser denn sauber sei. Da wir etwas unternehmen wollten und zwischenzeitlich die Hausdame mit der Suche eines Zimmers mit hinreichend sauberem Teppichboden im Haus unterwegs war, haben wir absprachegemaess alle Gegenstaende im Raum zurueckgelassen. Bei Rueckankunft im Hotel wurde uns der nun dritte Raum zugewiesen - in diesen war unser Gepaeck mittlerweile gebracht worden: Der Teppichboden war in einem grenzwertig akzeptablen Zustand. Beim Gang durchs Treppenhaus fielen uns zudem noch Sengspuren an (allen!) Lampen auf. Auch dies wurde vom Personal stoisch zur Kenntnis genommen...

Gewisse Gebrauchsspuren, gerade auf Teppichböden lassen sich in stark frequentierten Hotelzimmern nie ganz vermeiden. Im Bereich der Fußböden wurde bereits begonnen, Teppichböden nach und nach auszutauschen, was allerdings bei einem Haus unserer Größe geraume Zeit in Anspruch nimmt. Seien Sie versichert, dass wir die von Ihnen erwähnten Sengspuren überprüft haben. Genauso wie wir allgemein im ganzen Hotel regelmäßig Wartungen und technische Überprüfungen machen. Below average.
No room service, even though you could order it from the tablet in the room, you then receive a phone call later to tell you it’s unavailable. Annoying, just remove the tablet. Inconsistent shower temperature, at the very least I expect to be able to have a decent shower In a four star hotel. Room was tattered, stained furniture and very stained carpet. Would not stay again.

Fantastic service!
We were only in town for a short time and benefited tremendously from the advice at the front desk re. how to get around and the type of restaurants we were looking for. They also made the associated reservations on our behalf. That level of customer serviced was very much appreciated.

I have stayed at Swissotel now known as Dorint numerous times. On all occasions I have been left extremely disappointed, this is mainly due to the conditions of the rooms. The carpets in all room are absolutely disgusting covered in stains. The pillows smell horrible, you can clearly tell they only change the covers. The drains in the bathroom smell rotten, whenever you use the sink the awful smell fills the bathroom. I had to wipe all surface eg tables, desks and handles myself as there were mostly sticky and after wiping you could see the dirt on the wipes. I was really hoping that Dorint taking over would mean renovation, attention to detail and etc. Nothing has improve, apart from the lobby/reception, breakfast area and gym, the rooms are absolutely awful. Kindly take the time to clean the rooms properly or even shut down for a few months to really pay some attention because it is really bad. This hotel has great potential, the location is great etc. Unfortunately management team or even the CEO’s are doing anything to elevate this hotel. I absolutely hate writing reviews and I really hardly ever do but when things are repeatedly being ignored then they leave me with no choice but to point out the issues.
