The staff was warm and welcoming as well as helpful and friendly. At check out I made a comment about how comfortable the room was and about how much I loved the pillows. I was told that I could contact the hotel when I got home and they would Oder them for me and have them shipped to my home. I plan to do so this week when I get home!

Was very disappointed overall. Climate control was an issue. The inability to control your own rooms temp has to be addressed. The outside temp was about 59. The room temp was 66. We contacted the desk about it and they said it is one or the other, heat or cooling, and that it was controlled by the hotel. Since they had two large events going on the ballrooms, they had it on cool. So we had to freeze. Their option was they could bring us more blankets. Overall the room was poorly maintained. Cracking plaster on the walls. Huge chunks of cracking and broken ceiling in the bathroom. Vent was filthy. Toilet made an absurd screaming noise when flushing. Paint chipped and peeling in the closet. Overall just in disrepair, not at all what was expected based on previous reviews. There was a service cart outside the elevator on the third floor when we checked in, loaded with dirty dishes. It was still there the next day when we left.

This was a first time staying at a local hotel, and it beat a lot of my expectations. It was like a trip to the past, it was really beautiful. I will definitely come back and I will most certainly recommend The Hawthorne to anyone wanting to visit Salem and get a glimpse of the past

Visiting Salem was the highlight of our Honeymoon. The Hawthorne was very accessible to all tourist attractions. Our room was on the smaller side. But still comfortable. The hotel works on a strange heating and cooling system, but was very accommodating. This Hotel transformed you back to the 1920s, but in a good way. Will definitely consider staying here again.

Overall a great place to stay. Location is excellent putting you in walking distance of all shops, attractions, and the warf. It is an historic location so expect some character in the rooms. Really liked it. Would most likely stay there again next time in Salem.

This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed! The food from the Finn point restaurant downstairs was amazing. The staff was quite friendly, and the hotel itself Is lovely and has been remodeled to show it 1920s decor. Everywhere you look there are fresh flowers and plants. The parking was super easy and I would stay here for many many nights if I could.

Finding parking in Salem is not easy. This property has a large, safe lot directly behind it with easy access. The room was very large. Restaurant offered great breakfast options. I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel.

Small and cozy room but had everything we needed. Check in and front desk worker was top notch. Can’t beat the location and proximity to the town. Fantastic bar and restaurant. Would definitely recommend and return.

The Hawthorne was the perfect place for our family to stay. We could walk everywhere from our hotel. Tons of sights, shopping, and dining options. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and the staff were very helpful. Coffee, cider, water, and lemonade available in the lobby brought the day was a nice touch. This is such a beautiful hotel nestled amongst the rich history of Salem. We look forward to staying here again.

The rooms are very small & there was absolutely no room to turn around in the bathroom. The heating/cooling system did not work. I hope the maintenance team works on getting rid of the mold in the shower

Hotel is very nice and clean , however , we had a horrible Stay. The heating system is broken so even though we Set the temperature to low the heat was blasting in our room all night. They told us on check in that the system was not working properly but failed to tell us that you had to turn it off … our room temp Was 89 all night … this was after they brought a fan to our room and still didnt tell us to turn the system off … awake all night …. You would think a hotel of this size would fix an issue like this !!!
