Valur for money
It is a fine hotel for short stays. The rooms are basic but clean. There was a bit of road noise but nothing terrible. The staff was quite helpful too.

Too basic for a three and a half star hotel. Sone staff were nice but not very helpful. Information about the nearby facilities was rather deceiving. True, the hotel is 5 minutes away from the railway station but donā€™t be fooled; itā€™s Wattenscheid station which was not mentioned at all in the Expedia website description. All my activities were based in Bochum, 10 km away from the hotel, so I spent over ā‚¬120 in taxis NOT happy at all.

Tryp Bochum Wattenscheid.
Rooms were big enough. Nothing interesting to see from the windows but was not expecting anything. Car park is next to Lidl supermarket so very easy for last minute snacks etc. Handy for the tram service into Bochum and also to the Veltins Arena for Schalke football. Breakfasts were good and plentiful. Bar a little short of seating for larger groups. Ideal for couples or a handful of people.

Nice place to stay and bid go there again.
The place was pretty good considering the price. Read the fine print though, there is a ā‚¬60 cleaning fee and local taxes on top of the listed price. Bring towels and hand soap, since none of that was provided. The place was clean and was in good shape. I would go back there again. We paid them in cash, but they gave us a receipt that we both signed, so Iā€™m fine with that.

Poor entrrior. No coffee offers in the room or lobby. Charge for second device connection to wi fi. No opcion to cancel after checking in. Charge to get in the room at 12PM, instead of 2pm. Room was already cleaned and ready.

Great hotel, comfortable and clean. Very good for the price paid. Would be 5 star review if not for the dinner on the first night. Really slow service and food not very good. The breakfasts were really good, so maybe if was one off.

Not the greatest location, but a 20 minute walk will take you to Wattenscheid station, where you can catch a train to Dortmund, Bochum etc. Actual room was large and clean, with a very comfortable bed. Only real issue was that the walls are pretty thin and it's pretty noisy at night. Local area is very quiet and safe, not much going on though.

Good hotel but wifi offer should be improved
I think the staff were very friendly and caring, what really was not very comforting was the fact that the wireless wifi was free for two hours but the meter kept running so you could not use the time effectively. Almost all hotels provide free WIFI and with whatsapp being on 24 hours it makes little sense to have two hour limit. Looks like the hotel is tuck in the old ages of 10 years ago.

We always really enjoy staying at this hotel, although this time there was a little dust under the bed. Staff is very helpful and friendly, breakfast buffet is splendid. We travel with a couple of young kids and for us this hotel ticks all the boxes.

Clean, no frills
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke fluent English. The hotel is "no frills" but it was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. The 24 hr bar was great for a quick drink at night or a nice cup of reasonably priced coffee in the morning.

The stay was great.The staff was excellent in every aspect.The food was very good.Excellent selection of food.The service at the bar was also excellent with a great selection of good scotches and whiskeys. Price was also very good being at a hotel. The only thing I didn't like was the internet speed was a little slow.The internet is free,but also only limited to 50MB, which means if you are doing business, this is not enough. So I paid the $5 for unlimited, which is not so bad, because the cost of the hotel was ALSO EXCELLENT

Five of us as a family - mother/father and 3 adult children - travelled to Gelsenkirchen to attend the World Cup Qualifier Germany v Ireland - we stayed in TRYP Bochum for one night - The hotel is comfortable , clean and well located for the city centre and Veltins Arena - tram ride away / 10 mins - would recommend hotel -

Booked for IrelandVGermany match a was on direct tram route to match. The neighbourhood didnt offer a lot and we had to travel in to Bochum or Gelsenkirchen to eat/have a few drinks. Nothing bad to say about the hotel other than the night porter wasnt the most helpful. The day staff were very good

Close to Tram which covers everywhere you need.
Stayed here when coming to Schalke Vs Arsenal and it was perfect. Close to the tram stop which goes everywhere and a 24 hour bar!

Perfect hotel for attending a match at Schalke 04 FC. Bars, restaurants and direct tram all within 10 minutes walk. Our only issue was with the amount of time it took to get served in the hotel bar. Massive missed opportunity there on the part of the hotel!

Tryp hotel - better than expected
The hotel is stuck out in what feels like the middle of nowhere (depending on where you're visiting - we had a conference at Essen), but the staff are friendly and the facilities are perfectly adequate. But the restaurant! That was a real and very pleasant surprise - much better quality than we expected, good fresh ingredients and large portion size. We weren't expecting much in fairness, but it was very good.

Stayed here while attending a conference in Essen. Convenient driving distance to Messe Essen. Nice, clean, simple rooms with upgrades available for coffee makers, etc. Great breakfast and very reasonable dinners in the restaurant. Would totally stay there next time I am in the area!

A bit out of the way, would never have found it without a taxi driver, and even they had to use sat nav! 8k from Bochum and about 4 from Gelsen Kirchen. Well served by the tram though.

Modern Hotel in quiet, green neighborhood
This hotel has very easy access to the Autobahn, free parking area and close-by public transportation. Shopping is just across the street with a supermarket leading to the town center pedestrian area. The restaurant is very good. Highly recommended for the traveler. I have stayed there many times.
