Manager was very kind and professional. No food service available at all due to a weeding in the property, no convenience in a quiet town

Good Evening, I am sorry to hear that you were informed there was no food service. We did have a food offering the evening you stayed but we were just fully booked in the restaurant for that evening. We only have limited capacity for dinner.

This is quite a historic building with links to Henry 8th and the family of Anthony Eden. It’s on the outskirts of Bishop Aukland but a cheap taxi ride into the centre and decent bus routes. The staff are super friendly and the spa linked to the hotel is very good. I sincerely found the place relaxing. If you are visiting the excellent new galleries of Bishop Aukland (especially its Spanish Art Gallery) stay here.

Lovely overnight stay on Easter Sunday, room was beautiful, clean and comfy. Josh at the bar was such a lovely friendly helpful young man, reception staff very friendly and polite. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options on Menu as well as continental. The Manor Burger was VERY nice. Would definately stay here again, can’t comment on Spa as didn’t use but will do on a next visit.

Separate sitting area when watching tv.larg bathroom. Hair dryer provided. Had food for tea it was lovely.

My partner and I visited for an evening. We spent a few hours in the spa which was relaxing. We upgraded our room to a suite and it was beautiful, spacious and lovely and warm. We ate in the restaurant, the food was delicious. Staff were friendly, attentive and we’d love to return.

Great stay and very welcoming staff
The room I had was newly refurbished and to a very good standard. Usb chargers by the bed is always a welcome site when away on business. Had a very friendly welcome from the receptionist. Ate in the restaurant, and the food was very good. Zero complaints about the whole stay.

Nice overnight stay
Nice welcome . All rooms differ due to the historic building. Food was excellent at evening meal. Please note that there is a charge of £15 per person for a 2 hour visit to Spa area. This is not noted and its not until you make the booking you get a text from the hotel. It is nice but should be noted prior to booking. Stayed pre covid and would certainly use and recommend to others. There is refurbishment work being made to the rooms.

The property looks good from the outside. However, the room we were allocated was small and the bathroom was no more than a small en-suite although the shower was good. The biggest disappointment was the size of the bed. I think it was a Queen. This was about 4ft wide and very uncomfortable for two for three nights stay. We asked if there was any other room available but was told the Hotel was full. Another point of annoyance was when booking with Expedia we ungraded on their website from the standard room to the next room upgrade but when we got to the hotel they did not recognise the descriptions used by Expedia and we believe we got their basic room in the Annex. Unlikely to use the Hotel again and suggest they look at the standard room available at any Premier Inn for comparison. Staff however were very kind and helpful but the place was clearly understaffed.

We were so delighted to have booked such a beautiful hotel. We love historical buildings and this was no exception , little nods to its history and sympathically renovated. The staff were lovely and friendly particularly the man who served us at breakfast, he was fantastic. The food was lovely and very accommodating for a boring GF diet. Our 2 rooms were overlooking the courtyard , due to the very hot weather the rooms were very warm ..one being like a furness..however this wasn't the hotels fault , but maybe a fan in the rooms may have helped. Our rooms were spotless. We didnt get the opportunity to use the spa and gym but have said we would me back to stay for a few nights to appreciate the hotel and investigate the surrounding countryside. If your looking for a quiet and peace this is the place. Thank you to all the staff at The Manor House

Great staff, attentive and helpful. We had a room upgrade on arrival and couldn't fault the staff. Ongoing building upgrades did not affect the atmosphere and comfort of the property. Thanks for a very good stay.
