"Very quaint little place with tons of history! Rooms are very small but all you really need when you are there to explore the island anyway. Only real issue we had was a lack of sound proofing between the rooms- and could be very hot if it was sunny as there is no AC and the window isn't screened. Fish and chips at the pub was great!"
"We stayed at Painters Lodge for one night and unfortunately would not recommend it or return ourselves.
Our check-in was delayed because our room was not ready. When we finally entered the room, the air conditioning was set to 15°C despite it being cool and rainy outside. The room felt very damp, and we were never able to get the chill out of it.
While the rooms have been renovated, the updates appeared cheap and lacked attention to detail. There were wet, crinkled paper doilies on the bathroom vanity, no hair dryer was provided, and there were no nightstands beside the bed, which was inconvenient. The kitchenette was extremely small and awkwardly located right by the front door.
The deck was in need of significant repair, and although we had requested a pet-friendly room, the carpet contained numerous stains, which left a poor impression.
Considering the price we paid, we expected much better. There are several far superior hotels in Campbell River that offer better value, comfort, and overall quality for the same price or less.
On a positive note, the front desk staff were very pleasant, helpful, and welcoming. We also stopped into the restaurant for a drink, and our waitress provided excellent service. The pool area looked very nice, although we did not have the opportunity to use it.
Overall, this property did not meet our expectations, and despite the friendly staff, we would not stay here again."
"Beautiful location, property and excellent hosts, we had a memorable time watching the seals, eagles and whales from the deck and exploring the island."
Unique Cortes Treehouse! - Peaceful haven in the trees
10/10 Excellent
"This property is unique and delightful! We enjoyed sitting on the deck outside and listening to all the birds and enjoying the peace and quiet while in the treetops!!! Amazing! Our hosts were wonderful and accommodating, and we absolutely needed to extend our stay as we felt so relaxed here!Charissa even brought us some farm fresh eggs for our breakfast after I mentioned looking for egg stand on the island! So thoughtful and kind!We look forward to visiting again soon!"
"Inside of the house was excellent and the kitchen was very well equipped. Didn’t know about the stairs to the suite and to the beach which was a bit of a problem for my wife. The excellent view of the ocean was quite restricted from the patio and the suite for shorter people. Good hot tub."
Beach front newly renovated 4 bed house quiet safe beach Family Friendly
10/10 Excellent
"We absolutely loved our stay here this December. The house was cozy and warm, and we loved the main floor's open floor plan. The kitchen is small, but it is very well stocked with cooking utensils, serveware and appliances. I would recommend meal planning with limited counter space in mind. The location is gorgeous - the view is beautiful, and the bay is quiet and private. The host was very friendly, and we're definitely hoping to be back! "
