We stayed in the Cottage and it was so cozy and comfortable, with a sofa to watch tv. The Cottage comes with a continental breakfast with yoghurt, toast, cheese and meats. If you stay in the Main House, you get a hot breakfast. The Main House has amazing architecture: especially the front door, indoor waterfall & curved glass wall! Beautiful gardens, pool and lawns. The hosts, Lionel and Rob were very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and places to see. We wished we could have stayed longer!
We loved our stay here, it was very comfortable and clean, and had all the comforts we wanted. The view was incredible, and our hosts were very friendly. We will definitely stay again if we are ever back that way.

I think this is the best motel i have stayed in. The owner showed us to our room and insisted that she carry a heavy bag. Good start. The room was large, clean, comfy sofa, etc. The owner then assisted with the rest of the luggage. The room was quiet and overlooked a large grassed area. The only thing that people may not like is that it an out of town site so car is needed for shops, restaurants etc.

The Duke really is the old lady of Russell. A wonderful historic building right on the waterfront. Restaurant is great - we ate there every night of a 6 night stay. But, there's lots of other great eating choices nearby also. Think about visiting Waitangi (Treat grounds) and Kerikeri (stone strore and Kemp House). At each get the tour guide - at Waitangi our guide was a descendant of one of the Maori chiefs who signed the document.

Excellent room equipment views and dining advice. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We enjoyed sharing experiences of RSA, Lesotho and rowing all dear to our hearts. Great advice about excursions. An excellent start to our tour of NZ
Rural outlook, but walking distance to shops. Sometimes less said is best. This property has received many accolades, most of which are justified. Our opinion.....If you choose to stay here, we doubt you will be disappointed.
