Was our second time visiting and it was better than the first! Newport is a childhood beach so it's always fun to go back and visit. The guy that does check in isn't the most welcoming but the ladies we've checked out with have always been nice. Great place and central to wherever you want to be. We park and ride our rental bikes all weekend.
We stayed here three nights for a wedding. My sister arrived first and was given a room in the Lido building. She complained that it was dated and suggested when I arrived that I request a room in the main (newer) part of the hotel. We did and the room was great — updated and spacious with a mini-fridge and partial view of the bay (I wouldn't pay extra for a bay view; the bay is a distance away and the view isn't that great). The only thing missing was a coffeemaker; I really hated having to make myself presentable first thing in the morning to go to the Starbucks counter in the hotel.
The pools were great. We only had time to go to the hot tub at the Balboa pool, but it was wonderful. We also rented bicycles and rode over to Balboa Island for lunch, then took the ferry over to the peninsula. Checked out the pier, the Wedge (famous for surfing) and had a drink at Newport Landing restaurant and watched the sailboats drift by. There is also a giant chess set on the hotel property which looked like fun.
The lobby bar and patio were lovely (although the drinks were pricey.) There are comfortable couches, a fire feature and heaters on the patio.
All in all a great experience and I would stay there again.
I have to say the staff went out of their way whenever we had a request.
From the moment I arrived at the hotel to the moment I checked out, I had a wonderful experience at the Newport Beach Marriott. The room was great and the bed was super comfortable. This trip was for business, but I would absolutely bring my family to this property! Only downside was having to pay for internet service.
This is a really convenient place to stay. It is just a short walk down the hill from a very nice public beach where families would enjoy the sand and water. It is a short drive from any of the Laguna attractions and restaurants. The rooms have had an obvious very recent and modern renovation and they feel luxurious. Although the property is on the Pac Hwy the buildings are inset away from it so I heard no traffic noise. The proprietor is a super friendly guy who was very accommodating and is clearly committed to making this place a success. I can recommend without reservation.
This hotel is out of the ordinary!!
Located on the Beach at the Newport Pier, rooms overlooking the beach and the Pacific Ocean!!
Antique furniture, fireplace in each room, nice and accommodating staff. The restaurant is probably one of the best in Newport Beach. Excellent appetizers, prime steaks and rack of lamb
"Convenient to Balboa Pier/Catalina Ferry & Clean ."
We had a very short stay here due to the airline delays. However, our room was very clean and comfortable and we would stay here again. Young woman at the front counter was helpful. Grocery store and beach very close too. We wanted time to see Newport Beach, Balboa Pier & Island before our several night stay on Catalina Island via the Ferry. Very close to catch Catalina Flyer Ferry.
