Dear Guest, Although I met you personally at the time of departure, I would like to take this opportunity to reply to your review and also give you some feedback on some of the comments you made. I spoke to our night auditor to ascertain what happened in the evening when you were parking your car. He advised me that he parked your car for you because you had left it in a non designated area blocking the passage. He did not realize at any stage that he had been rude, or that you had perceived him as such, and even said that you stopped to chat with him. We have two parking areas and enough spaces for all our guests. I then proceeded to speak to our Front Desk staff member who welcomed you and advised you that our restaurant was full for the evening, but again she was not placed in a condition to understand your disappointment. You simply replied in a nonchalant manner that you were planning to go into Cortona for the evening. We had sent you a pre stay email encouraging you to book a table if you wanted to stay, but you never replied and arrived when the restaurant service had already begun and all tables had been reserved. If there is an issue we are happy to address it, but we need to be placed in a position to understand that there is in fact a problem to begin with. We did not see you during your short stay with us, not even during breakfast, as you spent most of the time in your room only ordering room service. Lastly, I would agree with you that the property is quiet and tranquil and this is the main reason guests choose to stay with us. We are not, however, sad. On the contrary, we have a very nice team of professionals who are very service oriented and who are very attached to their work place. Our returning guests often mention that it is nice to find the same team over the years and always commend us for our service. It is a shame that what we offer just did not work for you. Dear Guest, We thank you for sharing your thoughts on your stay at our property and we are sorry to learn that we did not fully meet your expectations. This is a strange year and it is difficult for us working in the hospitality industry to convey our friendliness when our smiles are covered with a mask and we need to respect our guests’ well being by practicing social distancing. Needless to say, I can fully understand that you may not have perceived our genuine intention to be there for you throughout the entirety of your stay. Due to the awkwardness of these peculiar circumstances we have been offering our guests some great advantages this year. For example, we offered you in your package one full complimentary night. Furthermore, when you made the booking we also took note of the fact that you were interested in a particularly nice view. It is for this reason that we upgraded you into a deluxe room with five windows overlooking our Italian garden which is the most exquisite view we have on our property. It is true that the windows on the second floor are smaller. The Villa dates back to 1464 and this is just an architectural peculiarity of the main mansion. If the room was not to your liking we could have easily moved you to a different room. The Villa di Piazzano is a very diverse property with many different rooms located in so many different parts of the property. We do not have a poolside bar and our staff go down to the pool with a frequency which allows guests to order drinks but without becoming overly intrusive. Because we realize that we may not always be there just at the right moment, we also provide our guests with a card with our whatsapp number giving you the opportunity to contact us for any service anywhere on the property, not just at the pool. I thank you for mentioning the breakfast service as this gives me an opportunity to explain a little better the changes we have needed to make for obvious reasons. In making these changes we endeavoured to offer both variety as well as a higher quality breakfast than the standard buffet. It is true that we bring to the table a mini buffet which includes freshly cut fruit, cured meats, cheese, a selection of bread, a selection of cakes and croissants, freshly cooked bacon and eggs and upon request yogurt, cereal and freshly squeezed juice. However, on top of this you can also order from our à la carte menu eggs benedict, omlettes, pancakes, waffles, chia pudding and porridge. You can therefore create your own degree of variety each morning. In conclusion, I always encourage our guests to come to talk to us, tell us about their stay, their needs, their expectations not when they have left but while they are still with us, so as to give us the opportunity to make the stay as enjoyable as possible. I apologize once again for the loss of the 3 under garments for which we did compensate you. On the issue of pricing, it is just too simplistic to say that a place charges high prices just because it is nice. Pricing is, in fact, an intricate mechanism which is carefully evaluated by every hotelier and takes into account many factors. Some of these are more and others are less evident to the discerning traveller but, nevertheless, need to be taken into account in order to make a business viable. As long as this business is viable we will be able to continue operating and giving our best in order to allow our guests to have a special experience in a pretty special corner of the world. Thank you for sharing your comments with us. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the level of services offered during your stay. On the other hand we are so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the fine dining restaurant. Since we are working very hard to ensure both an excellent level of service and an interesting menu of a high standard, we would be very interested in learning what exactly was not to your liking. As far as the terrace where we serve the bistro is concerned, I understand your frustration with the flowers falling. This occurs for approximately a week each year and there is little we can do about it. It is part of the natural surroundings which, on the one hand are so beautiful but, on the other, remind us of the course of nature. We wish that an awning could be the solution but unfortunately it is not. The only solution we can offer for that week of the year is for guests to sit in our indoor dining room, though from experience we have seen that most people are not so concerned about the situation and would rather sit outside.
