The staff were very attentive and professional. The condition of the property and rooms was excellent. We also really enjoyed the quality and selection of the breakfast. I would stay here again.

I got severe food poisoning from breakfast. The food was Luke warm rather than hot (chicken, sausages etc) I suggest that the hotel focuses on ensuring the food temperatures are correct as I was severely ill from this

Stayed here twice, bookending a week-long hiking trip in SE Kazakhstan. A new, fully appointed hotel-a little further from the city center than the big Soviet-era hotels, but still within easy walking distance from most major city attractions. Hotel was very accommodating for me around very early arrival and very late departure times.

This hotel is 5 stars in name only. The hard product and service are 3 stars at best. While the lobby is opulent, the standard rooms are dated and in dire need of a remodel. The room assigned to me had stained carpets. The mattress was too firm, and the top bed sheet had small holes on it. Upon arrival at 4:00AM, no one from the bell desk staff offered to assist me with my luggage even though there were several of them just milling around by the entrance. If you order room service, you had to pay for your items at the time of delivery (no room charge!). On a positive note, my orders were delivered to me exactly within 30 minutes as promised. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff were inconsistent. Some were outstanding and others did not want to be bothered.

Located within walking distance (20 min) or a short taxi ride from The Baluan Sholak Palace of Culture and Sport. Excellent breakfast buffet every morning. Thanks to the staff at reception for helping book a last minute taxi to the airport early in the morning which arrived in no time. Recommend using their pick up service too. Best to have them give passengers arriving 30 extra minutes to deal with luggage, immigration.

Terrible Stay
I’ve stayed many times at the Rixos and this was by far the worst stay. I’ll start with the positive which was the Spa. The negatives 5 emails and 2 phone calls to arrange airport pickup. Arrived at 18.00 to be told the room was not ready. Ordered room service. After 90 minutes it didn’t arrive so I cancelled. No towels left after housekeeping. Had to go and find the housekeeping staff to get staff. Requested hotel car to the airport only to be told they had none available and offered no alternative. For a 5 star hotel this is completely unacceptable.

I arrived very early, due to early flights. They weren't at all accommodating. I tried to explain that I spent 30+ hours in airplanes and airports, and needed rest very badly. They said they had room available but couldn't let me check in until the official check in time. I get it when they are fully booked, but that wasn't the case. If you're in the hospitality business, it's often appreciated by customers when the hotel is more welcoming and accommodating, especially a highly-rated hotel. I spent 5 hours in the lobby, waiting. Unacceptable!! I travel a lot, and in most cases when my flights arrive early, hotels don't make me wait and feed me their "policy" excuse. They just accommodate. I didn't get a warm welcome at Rixos.

Great place to stay in Almaty and the staff are amazing. Highly recommend. It’s close to many shops , beautiful parks and restaurants. Everything was in walking distance for us. This was our second visit in two months…we loved it so much!

We have been coming to the Rixos Almaty for several years now. While it continues to be a great oasis in the middle of the city, it is beginning to feel a bit worn. While the reservation system also indicated we would receive a SPA credit, the hotel does not offer such. The reservation system also indicated you could check-in as early as 6:00am -- which the hotel will separately confirm is possible but at much added cost. In summary, the reservation system is misleading. It may also be due to the COVID situation and that hotel restaurants (other than the Lobby bar) are closed, but the quality and variety of food for room service is limited and of so-so quality for a hotel of this level. In general, a good stay still and we will return, but a different experience from before.

Fancy hotel with luxurous interiors. Breakfast is good, some Kazakh dishes and specialities are available. The room is spacy and comfortable. SPA zone was very pleasant and quite big, The only thing is the water temperature in the pool which might be higher. Reasonable choice for business travellers.

Disappointing stay, not a 5* hotel anymore
Disappointing! First off, when you pay $250+ per night, you'd expect a normal mattress to sleep on. Mine was curved/concave on one side but flat on the other, leading to a not-so-pleasant sleep. This was the case in two different rooms, so I didn't expect any better by changing a third time. Food is good but rather overpriced. Lastly, most disappointingly, I checked out in the morning to go snowboarding, after which I wanted to use their sauna and fitness facilities (while waiting for my evening flight) but their rule is after you check out, you cannot use their facilities any more unless you pay ~$50 USD. After paying close to $800 USD for three nights, this is a bit ridiculous. Every other top hotel usually let's their guests use their facilities on the day of their check out if they have to wait for a flight. Overall disappointed in these three aspects, wouldn't return unless they replace their mattresses and allow guests to use their facilities on check out day without an extra fee.

Good stay, but few things could improve
Great hotel, luxurious inside, good service except for check out with Aktoty (quite rude staff actually). Nice amenities like the pool and gym. Main issue: mattress in room very old and not comfortable for such a luxury hotel. Expected better.

Great hotel
The room was spacious and immaculate. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a wide variety of hot and cold options for all dietary requirements. We used the pool and SPA on several occasions and the service was impeccable. We were lucky to stay in the hotel on a Sunday, so was able to partake in the 12-4 Sunday Brunch, which was amazing value, Marzhan was a great help in the restaurant. Car parking is free and the WiFi was high speed. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great spa, great breakfast. Great location for walking to the hard rock restaurant.. Elevators will arrive and let you wait..room temperature can be tricky but the outside door could be left cracked open on the sixth floor. Room cleaning was good but did not respond to door tag and turn down service was late in the evening so my guess is the need more stafff there.. everyone was nice..building looked in great condition but the bathroom had a moldy smell a couple of times ,maybe from the tub jets or the drain.. taxi shuttle service from the hotel is about three times more than the local rate. Taxi to airport was 4,000 local but hotel was asking 23,000 or more. Taxi to local site was 2k local currency yet city taxi was only 400.. so with a 320 to one exchange it is still a good rate.. I liked the pool and the great spa service..
