We were traveling to attend an entertainment event at the nearby Blossom Center, and when booking the property we felt that it suited our needs based on ratings, distance, and price. From the exterior, the property looked great. We arrived at the front desk as other guests were told that their room would not be ready in time for checking in, but fortunately ours was. It was explained that they couldn’t staff their housekeeping department fully, & as I understand it they may be contracting out for those services. Upon check in we were not notified of basic policies such as dishes being by request only. The interior of the property was very dark and dingy; the 2nd floor where our room was reeked of cigarette smoke our whole visit.Room had carpets stains, mismatched fixtures, food stains in the refrigerator, the protective wrapping on the sealed cups was torn. This was the first hotel room I’ve stayed in that didn't have an alarm clock. The phone didn't work when we wanted to call the front desk and we had to repair it ourselves. While the room was tolerable for our purposes, it certainly did impact the enjoyment of our visit to the area. I would have expected to pay about half of what we did for the quality of room & service that we received, and would have found alternate accommodations upon our arrival if we had had time and most options had not been sold out as a result of the event that we were in town to attend.
