Independent, Accra Hotels

Our experience at this hotel was awesome. The staff was really nice and accommodating. When visiting, is it nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city of Accra. This nice hotel in Kokobrite was a welcoming refuge from traveling the city during the day. Transportation was very easy for there was always taxis available, and once we learned the tro tro system, it became a very inexpensive journey to the city. The room itself was very clean and the kitchenette was very useful. Some nights and days we lost power and water due to rolling blackouts, but that was to be expected in region that we were in. They brought us breakfast and water to our daily. The pool was very refreshing as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

since I only stopped over for less than a day, I looked for an 'all in one' package that includes airport shuttle, B&B service. Collection from the airport went smooth, but I had to wait for almost one hour for the return trip to the airport and came into a no-comfort zone fearing that I may be too late for the check-in. Not pleasant! The receptionist did not know what to do about it.. I was also surprised that shuttle service had to be paid although the Expedia information shows it as 'complimentary' which in my understanding means -free of charge. My error, put it down to language barrier. Guests should also note that the bar service is on demand i.e. the hotel staff will buy outside what you want to drink and that there is no restaurant facility. A good spot to rehydrate and eat and within walking distance is the Eden Tree pub, which I found pleasant. Overall rating: This guesthouse is good for a stop over, one should not expect too much, though.

For the price of $100 a night, including taxes, l wasn't very impressed with the condition of the rooms - seemed to have lacked attention to detail with maintenance over time. Good people with the right attitude, however the general ambience at the place could be more professional. Breakfast was included with stay. I expected better for a 3 star hotel at $100/night.
