I go to the Hawthorn Suites in the US for comfort and value, and I learned I can get the same in Abuja. Bala at reception was helpful even before I left the US, sending the very friendly and accommodating driver Friday to meet me at the airport (nice to have someone waiting when you walk out the airport doors at nearly midnight!). My travel plans changed mid-visit and I had to check out a couple of days earlier than anticipated, and that was handled smoothly by the front desk. Michael got me set up in my room with a warm smile, and seemed genuinely sad to see me leave after just a couple of nights. I didn't have enough time to take a dip in the pool but that was a big step up from any Hawthorn Suites pool I've seen in the US. No bar in the hotel, but there's another hotel right across the street with an indoor and outdoor bar, so if you want a sundowner you don't need to walk far. Breakfast options include light continental fare as well as hot local options for those who, like me, are happy to start the day with some egusi soup. I'll definitely be back on my next trip to Abuja.

The staff was great, however, they said tvey gad things on the website that isnt true. Like 2 bars they closed the vars because muslims own it, and statws they have a airport shuttle which wasnt true. Its fine it they closed them due to beliefs but they should just state. Then when they hear us speak igbo the management treated us different questioning everything we aaked. Even nade us feel unwelcomed when asked for the ite s to play table tennis. Wanted our room umber loined up our information. I will not recommend this hotel. I love this hotel chain here in rhe states but becer will stay there again.

Please book this hotel whenever traveling in Abuja! Everything is world class, especially staff and management! I stayed here for 7 days, and it was truly a home away from home experience! The staff was very courteous and accommodating. The morning breakfast was always very good! The only thing I didn't like was the checkout process. They could not process my VISA credit card because their machine was down. It was a good thing my Fiancee was there to do a POS transfer for the balance. Also, the Television in my room did not have a clear picture quality. I expected better for this hotel.

Once again, it was an amazing stay. The room was almost palatial and my wife who was staying for the first time was impressed. The manager added a little extra touch by sending us a free fruit salad!

Terrible Experience
This hotel is terribly run down and needs to be fully renovated. It’s a motel/one star hotel at best and is no where near worth the price. An overall sub-par experience; I would never recommend this place for anyone.

Great stay!
Once more, a great hotel experience. Booked for two nights and got complimentary stay instead!! Had welcome gifts left for me by the manager at check in and a complimentary fruit dish the next morning! I had absolutely no complaints. I recommend this hotel and will definitely be back!

Shady Hotel staff
I stayed 3 nights. Ordered dinner first and second night, signed the invoices both times. Was delayed over 20 mins on checkout when my bill was overcharged and I insisted so. I demanded for the slips and they brought 3! One had my signature and name forged!! The manager was called for and apologized! I settled the correct bill and had to rush off to the airport after being asked the description of the room service staff.(same staff both nights, I even tipped him handsomely) I think the management has to take it seriously because I want to believe this is not a random case. I am a Hotels.com Gold member and a Star Alliance Gold member also. This was easily the worst check out experience in my travel history. I will definitely NOT stay here again.

Quality stay for the money
Clean, bright, comfortable room. Like most Nigerian places, wifi spotty to non-existent. Shower stall has seen better days, but plenty hot water. Also a Nigerian (mayb West African?), only one bath towel offered, even when two people staying. Nigerian hotels really need to get with it and start understanding in modern times, especially paying customers, should be entitled to their own individual clean towel!

Hotel facility needs to be updated/upgraded...
Facilities in this hotel are awfully awful... WiFi works only in the reception, tv channels lack volume, bathroom seems to have some leaks, bed frame has seen a lot from its lifetime... the only positive thing from this hotel is the professionalism of staff, and the service you get... I won’t blame staff for the facilities, I blame the management of the hotel... their breakfast was amazing, booked breakfast for two but was told breakfast was for one and wanted me to pay for the second one, though that was sorted after being embarrassed twice after breakfast... for the money you pay, nah... not worth it... the entire hotel needs a revamp... positive side, it’s a safe, secure and quiet environment... staff are absolutely amazing...

There is always room for improvement
Nice and comfortable hotel. Staff friendly. However info about the 'single room, queen size bed ' needs to be explained with regards to ' only one is entitled to breakfast '. If a couple stay in, they have to decide who eats breakfast and who goes without ------ which was what happened to me during my stay. This caused some embarrassment..The manager conceded an extra 'free breakfast '; I hesitate to recommend this to prospective guests.

Could do better
Check in was difficult as the receptionist tried to give me a lesser room to that I booked and paid for. Excellent manager sorted it out very quickly. Food was ok but very small portions given the price! Room was ok except the huge bank every time it switched from city power to the generator! At 3am it is not what you need for a good night sleep
