Modern, upscale, beautifully furnished. We were very, very comfortable here & hated to leave. Alesandra (sp?) at the front desk was warm & welcoming. All of our needs were met & exceeded. The hotel location is so convenient to Portofino...we only had to walk the beautiful road that curves along the mountain & the sea. Don't miss the Capo Nord, American Bar, restaurant that is only 1 km from the hotel. Also, the proprietor at the restaurant connected to the Bagno Fiore, the beach next to the hotel, was charming & accomodating each time we visited. Finally, be sure to visit Manuela at the Winterose Wine Shop in Portofino. Her knowledge of local vino is superb & the antipasti she serves with your wine is divine!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was very conveniently situated for walking into Portofino. The staff were excellent and the food delicious. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.
My only 2 criticisms were:
no tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
very little comfortable sitting area/lounge to have a tea or coffee
as the weather was not terribly good for part of our stay.
Apart from this, we were happy.
This was a very nice hotel. The rooms were very upscale, beautiful, a fresh/crisp look, clean and well maintained. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was very nice! We really enjoyed the stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it. If possible, request the two rooms with a nice view on I think the west side, the rest of the rooms really don't have much of a view.

Nestling close to the beautiful fishing harbour, the Eight Hotel Portofino, Portofino, Liguria offers all the style and …More
This hotel is a great splurge for anyone who loves the Italian Rivera. It is an easy walk to great restaurants, parks and is right on the waterfront. The ferry to Portofino and the Cinque Terre is only about a twenty minute walk and the train station is about a half hour walk. There is parking if you need it and the rooftop pool and hot tub have a fabulous view of the Ligurian Sea and the town. The breakfast is also wonderful! We didn't really use the beach except to check it out, but it seemed very nice. The beach is stones and rocks, but the chair area is on a huge patio. There is a beachside restaurant too. My only fault is that the hotel hasn't quite caught up to the cellphone age since you needed a new log-in every day and sometimes had to try more than once. All in all, we really enjoyed this hotel and would definitely return.
The Hotel Miramare in Santa Margherita Ligure is everything a traveler would expect from a 5 star hotel on the Italian Riviera. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and are immaculate. The staff is helpful, informed and professional. An easy walk to many restaurants, to the town center and to the ferries for transport to the Cinque Terre or Portofino, the Miramare is in an ideal location. We visited the entire Ligurian coast using the hotel as our base. Santa Margherita is in our opinion, the most beautiful and lively spot on the Riviera. Finding a hotel like the Miramare just made everything more beautiful and more enjoyable. We will return soon.
