"wonderful, central hotel with high spec"
The hotel was in a great location, close to the railway station and other transport links e.g. canal bus and trams. The hotel was a real surprise, with art and sculptures giving the public areas an interesting ambience. We were met by friendly staff who were very welcoming. Our room was large and modern with great bathroom. It was all beautifully appointed and very clean. Lovely extras e.g. gowns and slippers, elemis products and bottles of water. The flat screen tv also had info about the hotel facilities and Amsterdam. The bar had a wall of art which changed as you watched! We ate breakfast in the hotel {included in the price} and we were impressed with the quality, choice and service. On the day we left the hotel the staff looked after our luggage until we were due to start our journey home.

"Great location - a hotel with history"
We chose this hotel based on previous reviews and its location and were not disappointed. The hotel is a short walk from Centraal Station which makes it very convenient to reach if arriving into Schipol airport (train tickets are E4). The building is easy to spot with interesting architecture, having a shipping history which can be seen in the interior too. The staff were helpful from start to finish, making checking in and out very straightforward, and helped us to book a half day tour to see the windmills, clog making and cheese factory at Volendam. We were also able to leave our bags with the concierge on our final day which meant we were free to explore the city. The room itself was spacious and even had remote controlled curtains! The superior room included free mini bar which was replaced daily with alcohol miniatures, wine, beer and soft drinks (and popcorn). There was also a coffee machine with a selection of rather potent coffees, a kettle and a few pots of cream (take your own teabags and buy milk from a local shop) We used the "Wellness" area which was clean and well stocked with towels. There was a limited seating area and a small pool, with different sauna and steam rooms and a jacuzzi. All much appreciated after a long day's sight-seeing! We decided not to have breakfast at the hotel as we thought it to be overpriced. Instead, we went to local cafes which are numerous in the area. Similarly, we did not eat in the restaurant in the evening.

"Best location and great hotel"
Had a great experience at this hotel. Rooms are clean and all furniture of a good standard. 2 mins from central station. 5 mins from red light district but far enough away from it. Staff are very polite. The bed is so comfy it's unbelievable huge kingsize. Of a night as I stayed on a lower floor the town is fairly loud but not bad enough to not be able to sleep

"Grand old Eurpean hotel."
I've stayed at the Krasnapolsky many times and it is my favorite. Although it was 2 years since my previous stay, the doorman recognized me. All the staff is friendly and professional

"Fantastic hotel, great location."
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend break. The hotel was comfortable although understandably expensive given that it is 5 star. The queen of Holland had visited that very morning although we didn't see her. I could not fault the level of service from the staff, they were so helpful and friendly. I proposed to my girlfriend and at fairly short notice the hotel organised for rose petals and chocolate dipped strawberries to be placed in our room as a surprise for my girlfriend. The hotel was really central and acted as a haven to the hussle and bussle of Amsterdam. If you are not on a budget I would definately recommend staying here.

Pocket Guide: Amsterdam Dam Square - Central Station 5 stars Hotels

The bustling heart of Amsterdam, this district attracts hordes of visitors teeming from Centraal Station to Dam Square and its beautiful Nieuwe Kerk (14th-century). The oldest part of town, Oude Zijde, is famous for its Red Light District, but the University and the docks bring a different kind of colour and buzz to the narrow streets. Don't miss the Oude Kerk, the Amstelkring Museum or the paintings in the Amsterdam Museum.
