love the hotel, staff was very helpful. valet and bell hop is only friendly if they feel you have money. we were greeted with a lei and everyone was nice and no complaints about them for us, but our daughter who lives at the north shore has a jalopy car was basically ignored. we go to this hotel every year, and get 2 rooms. you can't judge people by the car they drive, especially in hawaii
Its always hard to tell what the hotel actually looks like from photos. The hotel was great. We traveled with our 5 year old grand daughter. The kids pool was awesome, with a big water slide, little water slide, water fall, deep end, shallow end, kiddy pool and 2 spas. It had lots of seating and was sunny with shade cabanas to rent. On top of that it was steps from the ocean where you had a whole other experience that was just as amazing. Everyday their were activities for kids and adults, Hula lessons, flower lei making, treasure hunts just to name a few. You are in the heart of Waikiki so restaurants and shopping were a plenty. So many activities to choose from so little time. We had a hard time leaving the hotel to see other parts of the island. The staff was amazing no matter what we were asking for. We are in Hawaii at least once a year and have stayed many places and this is now one of our favorites. Some times we travel with the grand kid, sometimes we travel with the grand kid and adult kids and sometimes just the 2 of us. This hotel works for all circumstances. The pictures on line don't do the hotel justice. The only thing I would say is dont stay on the street side of the hotel. There is a loading and unloading area and the trucks use a beeping when they back up and you can hear that early in the morning.
We stayed for 12 nights during our wedding trip in Hawaii and had a really great stay at Waikiki Parc. The staff were all so accommodating, friendly and helpful. The staff managed to shuffle a few rooms around so that we could upgrade to an ocean view room which was well worth it. It was a beautiful start to each day, opening the shutters and stepping out onto the balcony, looking out on the stunning ocean blue. I really loved the way the simplicity of the room decorations and the shutters across all windows. Other guests stayed in the mountain view rooms and they were exactly the same as ours, but the view was more of car park and buildings than mountains. The amenities were more basic than a 5 star resort, but I thought that it was good value for money and would definitely stay here again.
This hotel was everything we imagined a Hawaii hotel to be. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We were right on the beach with the opportunity to walk the beach boardwalk along the coastline to other hotels/restaurants and views of Diamond Head. The pool was a salt water pool and was never so full that you had to wait for a chair except for later in the afternoon. I would recommend the snorkeling cruise that goes to a reef right in front of the hotel. It is a place were turtles are numerous along with tropical fish. You can sign up for the cruise right on the beach where you see the sign. There are fireworks every Friday night on the coast so get a good spot on the beach to see them down the coast. The food is expensive everywhere so make sure you use the coupons given to you to cut down on the cost of food. We stopped at a local grocery store when we were touring the island in a rental car for water and snacks to keep in the room. We also stopped at a Shrimp truck with a delicious shrimp menu along the way. If you want to see a luau, the King Luau was exceptional! One of our favorite memories. Aloha!
I am in the hotel business and own a 100+ room hotel at a major lake and ski area in Northern California. The staff was excellent at The Modern Honolulu and extremely courteous. I told them that I hope my staff is such when we owners are not at our property. 5 Stars to The Modern Honolulu.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would definitely stay again. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Views from the romm were great as was the location as we prefer to be at the Ala Moana end of Waikiki for shopping etc. No wifi in the room but there was free wifi in the big lobby with plenty of seating. Highly recommended.
