We were trying to get a hotel near Mastahari to catch the ferry to Kalymnos. It was the cheapest one over by Mastahari that was available. When we got there, they upgraded us to a nicer room. We arrived late and were hungry and nothing was open. The staff stayed long enough to throw some really good food and wine together for us. Much appreciated. Didn't get to spend any time at the pools, but did go up by the bar/outdoor night club... it was fun. Definitely appreciated the service.

What really defines this hotel is the excellent calibre of staff. Whether bar staff, reception, restaurant or housekeeping all were unfailingly courteous, charming and helpful, with great sense of humour too! The hotel grounds are beautiful and very well presented, food in all restaurants is great, though the buffet format does get a bit repetitive, entertainment is geared towards the mainly German clientele, only negative for me was the amount of smokers. With regard to the rooms, I would think a refurb is required as the decor and furniture is rather tired and on the verge of shabby - really didn't bother us too much as the pools and outdoor space was fantastic and the beach just fabulous. We would certainly return without hesitation.
Located on the road west out of Kos town, just 10 minutes on a regular local bus service, Oceanis has an excellant beachfront location. The beach is pebbled rather than sandy but with grass banks and plenty of loungers its not a problem.
All the staff were really very friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was good, despite being almost at the end of the season. Really good selection of food so the all inclusive deal makes for a very good package. Entertainmant was winding down as it was the end of the season but what there was was good fun. It was a couples/adults only hotel with a very European mix, English, German, French, Italian and Scandinavian's all there whilst we were - but - no fighting over loungers at the two pools - there are plenty to go round.
I would recommend the taxi transfers, which the Hotel can arrange for you - takes about 30 minutes. Only note of caution - inbound Kos airport was very good arrival on stand to getting in Taxi just 15 minutes (wish Gatwick could learn that trick) but - outbound is chaotic. Its only a very small departure area and you need to watch out to make sure you are at the right gate in good time.
Would we go again - absolutely.
