Best budget hotel for westerners.
Nice rooms - comfortable
Lots of staff, good internet.
Kinda cold pool.
Guilin is kinda tricky with all the scams for tourists.
- Dont get a taxi at the door, walk to the main road and get a taxi and have them use the meter instead of riding my a predetermined price.
Not too many good restaurants close by.
Just recently spent 4 days/3 nights at this property. It was my third trip to Guilin in 3 years, but my first stay here. My travel plans had changed do to domestic flight issues, and I needed to change my reservation at the last minute. With the great help of Expedia, and Mr Liu at the front desk everything was taken care of. This was peak Chinese New year time here, so rooms were at a premium.
My only major complaint was, we attempted to order room service without success. I called the number multiple times with no answer. Finally a male answered and advised they were too busy. The same thing happened the next day, despite being told by the restaurant manager, and assistant hotel manager it would not. There were no problems eating in their dining rooms. The staff was cordial and the food good.
The property is in a good location and an easy commute anywhere within the city. Taxi's are very reasonable and they easily find the hotel returning you. There is a great area to walk, exercise, and relax close to the property. There are two room towers, one(older) having a great view of the lake. The Grand Wing(new) appears nicer and with a high floor, you are still able to have good views. That is what we chose and were very happy. The front desk staff were friendly, and always helpful. The housekeepers were readily available and did an adequate job.
Despite showing it's age a little, it is well maintained.
Overall it was a very good hotel experience, and I look forward to my next visit.
We enjoyed a couple of days in Guilin, exploring the mountains and the city's Pedestrian Street for tourists. The city has beautiful vistas and knows well how to show them off to its visitors. Many tours, and souvenirs, and shopping opportunities are offered to guests. Some of those things are overpriced, but if you go in knowing that Guilin is a tourist town, you should be able to pick carefully and enjoy a wonderful visit in spectacular nature-wise part of the world.
If you are visiting Guilin for a few days as a tourist this is not the hotel you wish to choose unless you are on a tight budget. It is an urban hotel far from the tourist attractions and downtown Guilin. I choose this hotel because it was close to my fiancé home.
The hotel is very comfortable. It was clean, quite and although older was well maintained. DO NOT eat at the restaurant, food at times was very bad. There are many very good restaurants within 5 min. walk and super market next door. A major mall with KFC, McDonalds and a soon to come Pizza Hut and some high end western restaurant within a 15 min. walk.
The staff is Chinese only at the front desk. Some could speak English at the tour and ticket desk.
"pleasant hotel in botanical garden but near shops"
We arrived at night: Imagine moon reflecting pagoda shaped roofs in water to the sound of fish jumping and beautiful music played in the tea room, as you stroll to your room. David was a most helpful driver who picked us up and explained all that one can enjoy in Guilin. You can arrange river tours, terrace tours conveniently at the desk of the hotel. (We also enjoyed visiting a tea plantation and tea ceremony).
The breakfast buffet is plentiful and meets both western and Asian palates. The coffee is delicious!
We particularly enjoyed strolling in the botanical gardens in which the hotel is located, watching how everyone enjoys the park like spaces for exercising, music.
The Personnel are delightful and eager to ensure a pleasant stay
