"No biscuits in room - nor decaf tea / chocolate"
Describing breakfast as free seemed to promise more - like cold meats and cheeses. Just say included.

"Cheap & Friendly"
Stayed with wife as visiting wedding nearby. Hotel feels like a run-down version of Travelodge -was it once a Travelodge?? Friendly welcome, no food in evening, so directed across 4 lanes of A1 on foot to Tudor Lodge, only to find cook off sick! Thus had to drive to local pub, lots within 3 miles for evening meal. Breakfast is a rudimentary juice/toast/cereal/hot drink buffet, but staff kindly let me take it to our room so wife got a rare breakfast in bed treat! A fullEnglish it was not, but for the price who cares. Room, ok, cable TV, old mattress on bed, bit springy. Hot shower disappointing - not much hot water. Tea/coffee in room, clean towels, free shampoo/soap. No traffic noise as our room atbackof hotel, but would have been noisy at the front on the A1 facing side.

"One night stay only"
Easy really - everything was excellent. My comments are based on the fact that this is clearly a commercial hotel and was punching at the top of its weight. If I am being picky I would have liked a sachet of de-caff coffee in the room. We were well within the time for having breakfast, but everyone else had been and gone, however we were treated very well, the breakfast was cooked absolutely freshly for us and was delicious.

"Unexpectedly nice"
Lovely Landlady, friendly and knowledgeable. Short drive to Bedford city centre. Breakfast choice was wonderful. it included scrambled eggs- beautiful, homemade marmalade and a little light conversation. Comfortable bed resulted in a good night's sleep. Only one negative for me was no en suite, but in the end it made little difference.

"A convenient travellers rest"
This hotel is actually better than it looks from the outside. Right beside the motorway it provides a quiet nights rest for a reasonable price. Close to Newport Pagel where there a number of middle to expensive restaurants to choose from or cheap ones there or nearby the hotel that offer acceptable fare.

"perfectly fine pub lodgings"
The room was clean and comfortable, and the place seems to have undergone some recent renovation. Very close to Bedford train station and not too far from the bus station. The bathrooms are shared with other people on the same floor, but they were clean and I never saw any other guests. The first night I was in a room that smelled of smoke even though I had asked for non smoking. I asked for a new room the second night and got one that did not smell like smoke, but did have an ashtray in it.
